Ode to Pain

The pain is unbearable, like a white hot knife,
it burns like ice and churns with strife,
never to be ceased, only increased, incessant, iridescent,
tell it to stop, go away pain, go away, why must you torture me again and again,
no rest to sleep, no place to hide, like a cruel vicious joke it gives me the snide,
where can I go for solace, there is no hope, only the simmering and shimmering,
the pounding and hounding, will it follow me to my death,
then and only then will I get peace, am I doomed to eternal weariness,
from beneath the waves of anger, the jaws of the shark brings danger,
snap it off, take a bite, end this pain for me tonight,
take the burden from where it came, I will not bow my head in shame,
those can not possibly understand, the writhing and wringing of the hand,
begging for it to all go away, what is the purpose, what is the rhyme and reason,
have you no compassion for my sadness and lack of sanity, I will forsake all my vanity,
with the words I shall be freed, into the fire goes my greed, are these the actions you wish me to heed,
are these the crops you wish to seed, with all my heart and all my might, I would gladly give up my sight,
for one glorious moment, just one is all I ask, for there I will bask,
suspended in animation free from the pain, finally, finally, it is gone.

Wow, most impressive! Evokes powerful emotions!
