Your Panda isn't Dead and Here's the Proof !

That's the message from Taipei Zoo after recent reports in Chinese media that Tuan Tuan the Panda had expired from distemper.
In a move reminiscent of an hostage situation they've released this picture of Tuan Tuan with a selection of his favourite newspapers , so he's not dead ... unless he is and the picture is Photoshopped.

The zoo snapped a photo of Tuan Tuan behind bars but in front of Monday's newspapers and put it on Facebook. It told people not to worry, and warned them not to listen to internet rumours. Tuan Tuan's partner Yuan Yuan and their cub were also fine, said the zoo

Couldn't they take a cute snap of him rolling down a shallow embankment or falling out of a small tree or some other panda shenanigans?

It's not like they can't taxidermy it. Even with video, I don't think hard core skeptics would be convinced. They'd say that robitics were involved in making it move.

The photo looks bad enough until you imagine what the view is like from Tuan's perspective.

Bars and guys pointing cameras at him.

They could at least paint the bars green so he's thinking 'bamboo.'

Mao-tse-tung once showed he was alive by swimming across the Yangtze.
This Panda needs to prove himself by the same standard.

But how do we know that is actually Tuan Tuan?

It could be a stand in, a body double. His eyes look a bit different from the last pic I saw of him.
