Thought experiment on free will...

Disclaimer: Kindly forgive me if this has been posted before. I would probably be a very old man if I took the time to read through every thread here on ATS before posting something.

If there is no free will, it would seem to imply that we are slaves. Indeed, there could be the illusion of freedom, but without free will, our thoughts, actions, and - ultimately - destinies would be predetermined and out of our control. So..God as a slavemaster?

But does having free will bode any better for the argument of an all-loving God? As it would turn out..not really. This is where omniscience comes into play.

I have often heard the parent-child analogy, but it doesn't work here. While a mother and father may have a child together and that child may grow up to be a serial rapist, there is no way to know that will happen until it does. Unlike the human scenario, however, an omniscient God would know that created person X will become a serial rapist. Is then the creation of person X not a wicked act?

I'm leaving this vague for a reason...thoughts everyone?
