I have a question regarding Asus monitors. I have a 24" Asus and am preparing to buy a new 27" from NewEgg later this afternoon. Would you recommend
buying a different brand monitor? I've had my current monitor for over 4 years and it has been good until recently when it started flickering black
occasionally. I really would hate to waste the money though if it has issues.
I agree with Bedlam, Asus has good monitors.
I've got two ASUS 24's and one one Philips 1080p display
for my basic system admin setup and they have been
working steady for at least 3 years.
The problem with ANY display is that it will
either fail within the first 6 months OR it
will fail after about 3 to 4 years, usually
because of overheating due to dust getting
into air intakes (always vacuum every 2 to 3
weeks for dust) or people stacking them
too close to walls or other computer gear
or put in rooms with little air conditioning.
Only a few company make the actual LCD/LED/OLED
panels themselves (LG, Samsung, BenQ Parent,
Fujitsu/Sharp (makes Sony Displays) and some
specialty low-volume makers in Europe (Philips
and some Eizo/Nokia displays).
If you've got the money, I would actually go for some
cheaper $400 or less 1080p Vizio or RCA LCD/LED TV's from
Best Buy which are technically made by BenQ and
then get a cheap AMD ($150 or less) R280/R290/R300 series
graphics card and use THAT for my display system.
Just make sure you use the 10 foot or less HDMI
Version 1.3a cables or later. If you use the longer
cables you WILL have signal problems!
Try these deals:
VIZIO E-series TV used as computer monitor.
VIZIO - 32" Class (31.5" Diag.) - LED - 1080p - Smart - HDTV - Black
($209 on sale)

---
XFX - AMD Radeon R7 360 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 Graphics Card - Black/Gray
www.bestbuy.com...
($129 on sale)
So with Taxes for about $360 U.S. you could
have a SMOKIN' HOT GAMING DISPLAY SETUP!
and 32 inches just the right size (not to big and
not too small for 1920 by 1080p 60 fps content).
