Many news reports are alleging that this was a heroin overdose.

Might result in a more productive PSA (Public Service Announcement) if they said it was heroin and not "the flu."

The ironic thing was that he was giving PSAs about not doing drugs a few weeks ago.

The other leak is that he got a overdose 'save shot' when his private plane diverted to Illinois.

Why on Earth would the media not just state this? The "War on Drugs" isn't quite over.

My opinion:
Pot: no big deal.

Heroin: Big Deal.

Don't Do Heroin. EVER.
Don't do heroin, or oxycontin, or any of that sh!t, people!!

His publicist is not confirming the reports so the news outlets only have the hospital leaks and the photos taken of him. Another possibility is because his publicist may be implicated in his death as another confirmed report is that he was at his local CVS last night in an 'agitated state'. If his team was involved with helping him purchase heroin they could be charged in his death.

News reporting he was found unresponsive inside an elevator in his studio. Paramedics attempted CPR but he didn't respond. An autopsy will be performed.

If this is true, it would make it kind of odd that he died from the flu...

...I mean, usually by the time that you're sick enough for it to kill you, you're in the hospital - not hanging out at home/studio...

The flu an linger for months. You will feel better for a few days and then it starts again. First upper respitory and maybe minor digestive problems then lower, then bronchial pneumonia. Happened to me. You will 'think' you are getting bettter.

Then you take your temp or wake up in the night with a fever breaking, shivering and coveed in sweat, yet also warm at the same time. ou try to get up and like me...I reached for the top of my armoire-which seemed to keep moving.

There were photos of him in front of the CVS on Fox and CNN. They are both reporting that TMZ has the leaks from the hospital where he received the save shot.

Not to take away from the main topic, but I've never heard anyone underrate Prince's guitar skills.

In the traditional ways of the northern California tribe of which I'm a lineal member, it is strictly forbidden to speak of the dead for at least one year. I've always wanted to know why, but never could get the scoop.

I think it's just hitting me what we have lost today. Prince was unlike anyone, a Shining Star. A master entertainer. I'm silenced, nothing but tears for him... just reflections... He truly was on loan from God. May the choirs of heaven receive him...

When I was young, the musicians I played with figured all we had to do was live past 27. Now? I just want to see us all survive 2016. Hang onto yourselves, people.

First Bowie, now Prince? I'm shattered.

and Lemmy of Motorhead

edit : how time flies - Lemmy died at the end of December. Only seems like yesterday. So he did not die this year, my wotsit.

It's also quite possible it was a save shot for an accidental OD. People left & right think that extra dose or two in the throes of pain & misery will be the oomph needed to feel better, forgetting there's usually a threshold they're quickly approaching double-fisting meds for relief.

I have a feeling that's what Prince did, rather than illicit -- I just can't see him doing illicit. It's likely he thought an extra dose of a med would be helpful/that he really needed it for relief, but it bit him in the a**, hence save shot. He would not be the first (nor last) person to make that mistake.

Absolutely! I loved Lemmy too! Did you know Motorhead used to do Reggae shows and festivals? One minute, it was Peter Tosh, and the next -- MOTORHEAD. And it was all love. People often talk about how stratified we all were back in the day, but that isn't really true at all. There were crossover artists, absolutely, but -- at a certain level -- it was all crossover.

Favorite Motorhead song? "Dancing on Your Grave."

Favorite Prince song? I'm going to pick two, subject to change, when I wake up tomorrow and treat myself to a couple hours of Prince for my birthday: The Ballad of Dorothy Parker / Chaos and Disorder.

2016 has been most unkind to those I grew up loving and/or being entertained by.

Whatever the circumstances of their death... no judgment on my part.

Peace.
