Lol, lot's of butt hurt folk on ATS because I was 'mean' to their online friends.
I couldn't give a toss, I'm blunt and honest, and no different in real life than I am on ATS. Actually that's not true, I refrain from being as blunt as I am when on ATS because T's & C's prescribe the rules and it ain't my house.

But yeah, while there was a back story for my 'attempt to get banned' thread which I can't discuss, I meant everything I posted at the moment I clicked 'post'.
I'd say the same to their faces in real life, I've got a nose that proves it. I have no time for bull# and I'm not one of those who gush orgasmic love for anonymous people who post stuff on the internet.

...it would be brilliant if the 'star' system showed who actually awarded the stars. Same old circle jerks I imagine, always makes me chuckle as I couldn't give a # who stars me, I just find amusement sharing my two pence worth of opinion in the discussion.

Thanks for all the recognition everyone

I pretty much have everyone whom i consider my 'favorite members' in my friends list. Although I'm sure I'm missing several people

Hi grainofsand!

Sorry for butting in on your conversation, but I was just wondering if I could ask you something?

Do you give stars to members here?

I'm not being confrontational in any way, lol...I'm just curious. You have a decent post/star ratio, so apparently a lot of people like what you write.
I give stars to posts that I like more than to people that I like...even though sometimes I'm one of those lovey-dovey types. (But not always, so that redeems me, right?)

a reply to: grainofsand I think the star system should go altogether the best debates and discussions happen in forums without star giving. Everyone is just a bit more honest.

I think a good number of my stars may be from Gos in little known UK humour based forums as we talk nonsense. I know that a lot of his are from me as we shoot # in conversations that no one else but us Brits understand.

Lol, yep I star any post I agree with or think was well written etc etc.
I star people I've argued with in other threads all the time, it's about the specific discussion to me.
I've even been a few times in simultaneous argument in one thread with a member while posting supportive comments to them in another thread.

Honestly, I'm the same in 'real' life, I'll passionately disagree with someone in the pub to raised voices, or even worse, but back him up about some other issue.
Specific issues don't make the person in my mind, just the sum of the total.

I star like a crazy person regularly, but solely on the posted words, not because of any thoughts I may have about the person who posted them.

Maybe I should search for it, lol...my parents were both from Yorkshire and my first husband was a scouse.

Oh hey, grainofsand! Thank you! Me too.

I can get really mad at what someone is writing and then later be giving them a cyber *hug*, lol.

And yes, I'm pretty much the same in real life too.
I'm very sympathetic and supportive, a 'hugger' and I hate confrontation.
But I'm also a smart-ass, and I love my sense of humour!
If I see someone getting bullied I will get on the defensive and fight for the underdog.

Thank you for responding!
(Hey Quantum...you were wrong, na na na na boo boo!)

Yeah, but he's my EX-husband (was cheating) so he doesn't deserve the capital 'S' or the 'er' on the end, lol.

Plus you don't get the full effect of me spitting when I speak of him.
