I like how the narrative has changed that Cruz is suddenly an establishment candidate just because he is the alternative left to Trump.

Cruz has always acted anti establishment, it's part of his persona. He's as much an insider as you can get though. He's literally sleeping with the bankers and is no stranger to the "inner circle". He's only an outsider in the sense that just about everyone personally dislikes him, most of Congress isn't even on speaking terms with the guy.

With the animosity out there towards Cruz, I just can't see him coming out of the convention with the nomination, he might have a decent voter base but he's a very divisive figure and internally there is a long list of people who would love to do nothing more than knock him down.

Can you see someone in the middle voting for someone that wants to create a theocracy? I just can't see it. We got off easy with several trillion in debt and millions of dead in the Middle East the last time we had a candidate who ran on the idea that God speaks to him and tells him to kill people. It's too soon to make that mistake again.

I agree - I think the fact he is disliked is confused with him being an outsider. He has been working in or with the Washington political elites for years - working for Bush no less in '99 - and his wife is tied to the CFR and Goldman Sachs. They are the very definition of a political establishment couple - mixed in with politics and corporate law for the past 20 years.

I just think it is becoming more obvious now as he gets cosy with the GOP insiders to help stop Trump.

Lets see...sitting Senator CHECK. Cruz is part of the Establishment. He is an Established politician in the Republican part

I do not see why anyone would like Cruz, he is the architect of Washington Gridlock. Really his record is one of causing gridlock and not willing to negotiate at all. You really think that will make a successful president?

That's precisely why some people like him. There's a faction of Republicans who want to dismantle the government, the hardcore Koch/Tea Party faction. However, they've been failing at that left and right, so rather than dismantle the government they want to paralyze the government to achieve the same effect. Cruz has caused enough gridlock that he's been very popular. Many people want another 59 like him to form a super majority that ensures nothing ever gets done.

That's also why a great deal of insiders dislike him. They get power to make the country better in some way (in their eyes) and gridlock means they can't make those changes. Disrupting everyones agenda doesn't make you any friends.
