Seriously!? Nobody has a thread on this?!

It seems our favorite stand up comedian (or worst, he did finish 14th out of 15 in a worst stand up comedians poll) has signed a deal with Showtime to have a six episode show simply titled: Dice

The Diceman has returned!!

Andrew "Dice" Clay will play himself. The titles have already been announced: Elvis; Ego; Prestige; Alimony; Sal Maldonado; Six Grand.

I just happened across an advert that said, "9:30, the four letter word returns" with a picture of ADC and the Showtime insignia. The show airs on Showtime and will also be available on streaming services. First show is this Sunday, April 10.

Wikipedia link (the safest) - Dice! (TV series)
Wikipedia link (again, the safest) - Andrew Dice Clay

So, a big waste of time or will you be shamefully ROFL?? I think we need a respite from all the politics myself!

BTW, I do not have Showtime so cannot provide updates! I will rely upon the good citizens of ATS for that!

The show is going to be a loosely base semi-autobiographic improved show! That will make me go over to my buddy who has Netflix and watch it like I do Trailer Park Boys! It is also only a half-hour.

There is a u-tube trailer, but alas, that service is blocked for me right now. So not sure if it meets T&C here is the u-tube vid code: v=t2Dlfse1PW0

Dice... Trump... what is next? Surely this is a sign of the end of times! Or as AP posted, we are sliding to Idiocracy with no way to slow down. I will, eventually, watch this, I know that much. Just trying to get the word out.

He was funny back when he was relevant, but kind of played out. It was a good gimmick (the nursery rhymes)...but his other bits never really hit the mark.

The review on NY Times was not too positive for the first show either. Their main gripe, and it is a good one, is that comedians have all done the "based on my life" schtick for the basis of their show. Think which ones you can name off the top of your head: Bernie Mac, Larry David, George Lopez, heck, even Seinfeld. And those are just the ones that I can currently recall. So their point is that the genre is kind of played out.

They go on to say that episode 2 is better. In that one Adrian Brody shows up and tries to get "macho" tips from Dice for a play he is doing--and ends up "out Dicing" the actual Diceman.

At least that's original though.

That's the thing. When it's original, and unique to you, it'll hit. Otherwise......

I might check it out but I am not a fan. Sam Kinnison is my all time fave.

So I finally saw Episode 1.
****Spoiler alert*****

Dice has to go to his GF's gay brother's wedding! That was not even the major joke of the show!! The running joke was about an Elvis impersonator crimping Dice's style.

So Dice doesn't want to go the wedding but does so to appease his girlfriend. She warns him to be on his best behavior so of course he ends up gambling. And losing. He believes it is because the fake Elvis is screwing up his mojo so he confronts the guy and tells him to take a hike. Unfortunately it was too late he goes down 100K to the house. Dice and his buddy, Milkshake, slip out of the hotel and cross the street to try their luck there where they are spotted by the GF! Dice needs the money as his wedding gift and is trying to do the right thing. At the new casino he goes down another couple Gs and spots the fake Elvis and kicks him out again! He wins his hand by going all in and pays off the other casino and gets the cash for the gift.

He shows up at the wedding. Guess who is officiating? Yup, fake Elvis! So Dice doesn't want the bad mojo he experienced rubbing off on the couple so he stands up, stops the wedding, and kicks fake Elvis out again! They find another impersonator to conduct the wedding--fake Liza Minnelli. Dice slips his wedding gift into his GF brother's suit and all is right with the world. He explains to GF why he did what he did, all for the good, and she forgives him.

Maybe not the BEST show in the world but it sure beat watching Dinners, Drive-ins, and Dives again! I think I will finish out the other five episodes!
