My journey out of hell: Eight-year-old migrant girl's marker pen drawings in a cheap spiral notepad tell of her harrowing escape from ISIS and across treacherous seas to Europe

Am I alone in thinking that maybe this young girl didn't draw these pictures?

Here is one of the pictures from the story. It looks very suspicious to me.

Why would the girl draw a pyramid when the image is meant to be of a palace?

A pyramid is the all seeing eye.

Sorry for the short OP.

You can see more of the images and the story below.

Daily Mail

It doesn't sit well with me.

Interesting. ..what strikes me is the use of Egyptian iconography ie pyramid, and the concepts being rendered might be a little out of her reach. Also, why the dollar sign for money, why the Egyptian pyramid as the seat of her supposed angst?

It wouldn't be the 1st child propaganda from the region, but it's disjointed.

I'm am saddened by the idea of any child living through such adversity, but I can see and share your suspicion as to the potential for it being other than what is portrayed.

She definitely didn't draw those. Those are targeted against the US, as they use the US dollar symbol on the money bags. Why not use the Syrian symbol, or the Euro?

This is a plant. Plus, most kids have no concept of blending colors at that age. The fires on the later drawings show overlapping colors, which most adults have trouble with. She's either a prodigy or a plant.

It looks like she was able to get through a lot of artwork with large fill in areas without any of her "cheap markers" running dry. When my kids were little and did a lot of marker coloring, there was always colors running out of ink and going dry. I also don't see any smudge marks from her hand touching wet areas of the paper as she colored along - something else you often see when little kids use markers.

Where did the OP go? He created this thread 20 minutes ago and now he's gone?

Now, I'm interested...

I doubt she drew it. Looks too good for a child and the content is too mature, but of course I could be wrong. Does anyone else not see the stats of the OP? Weird.

A conspiracy in itself!

Where did they get the full spectrum of colors in a coloring set if they're in a war-torn refugee camp? Or did she just use blood for the reddish colors? Hmmm

I saw a ****load of Manners Violations from him on a thread earlier today. Maybe he went "Keyboard Hulk" on another thread and got banned? lol

Hoax

The dollar signs give it away, plus its too clean for any kid.

There is almost no reason a migrant kid knows what symbol the American dollar is unless they were shown specifically. If they were shown specifically, the context was likely not positive. Probably something exactly like this image by an adult, which she would be copying imagery from directly.

Unless there are American pyramids full of gold and dollar bill bags like a cartoon laying about where the brown masses line up to come in an bow to a white guy one by one.

Everyone in the world knows the dollar sign.. This is a currency used in many countries around the world, TV, movies, music..

There is no reason she shouldn't know that symbol.. She probably also knows McDonald's, coca cola, Mercedes..

These people lived in a relatively safe country before the war.. They also had those things called TV.

My daughter is 8 and would shock you things she knows from watching TV and hearing adults talk..

Admittedly when I was 4 I drew planes going into the towers so there is some awareness, but this is rather deep.

She's more likely naturally gifted in visual arts. However I'm in agreement that the dollar sign is setting off red flags in my mind that there's a good chance she may not have been the original artist or at least it was edited after the photo was taken.

ETA; looked at the the rest of the drawings. All I can say if she really did do them, she's got some real talent for sure.

Well, I am sure she's a good artist.

The political message was likely her Mum and Dads. She's probably a bit young to be spouting "Free Kurdistan" and drawing women with guns i.e. "freedom" fighters. Keeping the cycle of sectarian hatred going in a new generation.

Couldn't agree more. The dollar sign is the most recognisable currency symbol.

The dollar sign is the most recognisable brand of money?
