They have had centuries to do it, they could do it any time and start writing to build a library just like other religions, have people join and convert

Yes it does, as I studied these things for a bit I have seen many feminist critiques of Islam that run the gamut from apologist, to stating that the Qu'ran has more nuanced multiplicity while the patriarchal communities who interpreted it demeaned its message and created a violent misogynist law code, to complete radical deconstructions of even the Qu'ran stating it that it can't be redeemed for an egalitarian balanced society as it is patriarchal at its core. All in the discourse of academia.

This is why so many people who criticize universities on ATS sound so unbelievably frickin stupid to anyone who actually studied at a University. Yes there are problems and PC can go overboard, but that is a minority, just like Bubba the KKK racist who believes the earth is a flat is a minority in the conservative movement. But all in all, people don't realize the multitude of views and research that makes academia academia.

Yes Islam gets criticized, along with everything else. Nothing escapes criticism in academia.

Religious texts are open to interpretation. For centuries men have been interpreting Christianity to their advantage. A feminist perspective would be looking at the text and interpreting it to a female's advantage, or at least to put her on equal footing to men.

None of this is good. If you want to study diversity then take a comparative religion course.

AND....its really a no brainer as to what the force behind the removal is......and its not diversity.

But its not going to put them on an equal footing with men and thats not the aim. That is a feminist interpretation for the sake of equality. I mean please wake up.

Feminists see most religion as very man-centered and misogynistic. Something I agree with incidentally. So I would imagine this will be a mainstay of the course itself(not saying it will be the totality). The problem with it is going to be defining feminism as it relates to the course. It could be any where from mild to wild, depending on the authors and the instructor.

Which amounts to simply being irritated that most of the bible characters have a penis and god is said to be male....in the case of christianity anyway.
