I don't know what to say about the manufacturing jobs, it doesn't look like they are coming back. That doesn't mean a man or woman can't find a good paying job without putting themselves in debt. There are still industries around that aren't going away anytime soon.

Take for instance good paying service jobs. Almost every household has car. Shops are always looking for mechanics. You can take a 1 year vocational program at your local community college. Get an entry level job working in a shop. After 2 years experience, study and take your ASE exams. Pass them all and become a Master Tech. Extremely high demand, and you will make $70+ an hour working for a dealership.

Just about every home, apartment, and business has an HVAC system. You can go through a vocational program for that as well. You may not make as much as an auto tech, but you can still own a house if you live modestly, and save for a down payment.

I was one of those moved-out-got-married-right-after-high-school-types and it was definitely tough and there were a LOT of EXTREMELY lean times, but as cliché as it sounds, you have to keep going until you break through (well, small break throughs one at a time).

Doctors and nurses who work ER are suffering right now. They are being laid off or replaced by lower wage providers, CNA's etc. Auto mechanic is no refuge. No one's job is safe in the new economy.

I do however appreciate you throwing the info out here about the mechanic job.

I have a hearing for a felony expungement in four weeks if all goes well and it should then I will be taking classes at night.

I can't take the risk with a felony on my record because your resume/ application goes strait to the garbage unless you have someone on the inside.

Do your own damn homework. I am sitting right next to a nurse who works for Swedish Medical Center here in Denver. RN's have been replaced by lower paid CNA's. I am friends with an ER doc at the knife and gun club who makes less than some RN's after you factor malpractice insurance, and he saves lives for a living, literally.

There are no safe jobs, unless you are a legislator, or are in the insurance industry.

Its not just the medical staff. Most (many?) of the major hospital systems are no longer directly employing their administrative staff. My wife knows many people that have worked for her hospital system for YEARS at decent paying upper management jobs.... that were "transferred" to outside consultant services. The same people still have the same jobs and with basically the same PAY... BUT... their benefit packages have greatly been reduced (retirement accounts, health benefits, dental, eye care) so essentially their overall compensation has been reduced by a little less than $10K per year.

Actually I could care less what those idiots do as long as they don't hurt Me or My family. The main problem I have with these idiots is they ALWAYS vote for higher taxes which puts My family at risk. Right now My family is living in a house with no central air. I have the money in the bank but guess what it's uncle sams money because I am contract labor. So yeah just keep thinking how socialism will save us all but I won't fall for it because I realize in the end it's the working class that ends up paying for it.

Historically it's actually been the lower class that were the doctors. It has only been in recent times where it's a profession that will make you wealthy.

Besides that, no one can pick future job demand. Learn the skills to do a job you want to do and take your chances if it will have any demand. That's all you can really do.

I'm a millenial Trump supporter who's achieved measure able amounts of success in one of the hardest sports on the planet, I work 60+ hours a week save my money eat healthy and I'm probably going to start school soon.

Thanks for your reply and I don't want to sound rude, but your post illustrates a problem I see from a lot of people in the discussion of issues like this and that is myopic thinking.

Of course individuals can do things to try to make thing betters for themselves and yes individuals may still be able to find good paying jobs, but it means nothing when you realize there are not enough of those jobs to go around. We lost a great many manufacturing and production jobs and along with them also the infrastructure jobs, like mining, ore production and smelting. There are not enough trade jobs for them all to fill. Not everyone will make it into the scrum many will be left out. Many are being left out and many are forced into much lower paying jobs in the service sector.

You also seem to miss the sad fact that most of the trade jobs are and were reliant on those same manufacturing and production jobs, because it was that segment of the population that could leave high school and make enough money to by a car, a house and have children that paid for the trade and services of mechanics, havac technitians, electricians and plumbers. When you have a large protion of a generation that can no longer afford a house, car and kids, those industries will fill the crunch as well.

I have a cousin that owns their own small construction company and he has already been noticing the trend for years. Use to he had so many jobs that would turn those his company could not fill over to other companies he knew. Over the years and especially in the last seven years those jobs have been slowing steadily down until, now, even though he has enough work for his company he takes every job he gets. And when other companies he used to give work to now call to look for extra work he has none to give.

Anyway I was not talking about individuals I am talking about a collective problem that is facing the entire economy and it is a grim one.

Also I am not in need of a job. I am just concerned about the dying United States economy and the society and government that will follow if and when it finally collapses.
