How come nobody is talking about Kasich? He is our best bet.

He voted for NAFTA and supported the TPP which shipped tens of thousands of jobs out of his state of Ohio.

The only reason he wasn't ran out of office is because Ohio struck oil with the fracking industry.

You got that right. Ohio remains locked in the Great Recession thanks to the politics of fools like Kasich. We are dead last or second to dead last in terms of recovery. He has also seen the greatest property tax hike EVER in the state. He slashed returns for cities and their option was to either slash services like police, fire, and emergency crews or to hike property taxes. He's slashed education and he's privatized services, he's tried to sell our turnpike to a German company - the turnpike that should have been paid off 30x over from all the tolls it's collected, yet once again they hiked tolls. Kasich also jumped up service fees across the board, especially at the BMV (our license bureau), where fees have tripled under Kasich. Kasich is like a Wall Street fund manager, he's very good at profiting while leaving you wondering where the hell all your money has gone. He's also increasing the states sales tax, to collect an additional 2.5 BILLION.

PS to add: Don't give Kasich the credit for opening Ohio up to fracking, that was actually his predecessor Strickland that did that.

If you want to turn the rest of the country into Ohio... by all means elect this guy.

"Registering the mentally ill" is the 1st step towards kissing all our rights away. The term has and will have a very loose definition and an extremely broad application.
Examples:
If you deny global warming, you may be deemed mentally ill and therefore unfit to own a firearm.

If you had a very bad single or series of events happen to you like a parent or spouse died, lost your job, foreclosed on a house, lost money in the stock market, and you became depressed, were treated for temporary relief, you would all of a sudden be prevented from owning a firearm, likely forever.

If you carry a pocket Constitution and use it to defend your rights, you may be deemed extreme and possibly mentally ill.

A spouse/partner or family member may have it out for you, call authorities and say you are acting crazy and are a threat to yourself and others, even though its not true, you will be locked up for observation and put on a list. You would be deemed mentally ill enough to be denied the right to own/carry.

This subjective list could go on forever.

DO NOT EVER WISH FOR ANY KIND OF REGISTRATION FOR NON-VIOLENT CITIZENS!!!!

It is similar to the idea being floated of using the No Fly List to deny permits. You could find yourself on either list by accident, clerical error, and be denied the right to carry/own a firearm.

If Kasich is for registering folks on lists, then he is the enemy and we want him nowhere near the Oval Office.

Kasich barely won the primary in his home state. He hasn't won anywhere else. He has no mathematical path to 1237 delegates. He is not electable. He wouldn't even be appealing enough as a VP on a ticket. He is being used as a tool to thwart Trump's chances and for no other reason. Romney wouldn't even endorse him; he just wanted Kasich to win Ohio, just like he wanted Rubio to win Florida. If Kasich came out of the convention as the nominee, forced on the millions who voted otherwise, Trump would go Independent and become the first third-party President of the United States of the 21st Century, a trend that would continue. If Trump comes out of the convention as the nominee, he will destroy Hillary and become the next POTUS. All paths lead to a Trump election.

This is because the media is only covering the Trump debacle and his two potential Democrat opponents; election years are always the same, ATS isn't as enlightened as it thinks it is.

Neither is Kasich.

You couldn't be more wrong. Kasich is the only one who can beat Clinton, and Trump loses to her big time. In any event, a Trump presidency would be worse than a disaster for the country. Be very careful what you wish for!

Kasich is far more enlightened than Trump or Cruz and far more enlightened than Clinton or Sanders. He is the best candidate running for President today and all that is possible should be done to see him in the White House on January 20th, 2017! And the media should do it's part to help get him elected as well!

Kasich is a 3rd place sore-loser. His own party doesn't even want to elect him. How does that equate to being able to beat Hillary? Trump has votes from Republicans, Democrats, and Independents by the millions. He is dominating all of his competitors by a huuuuuggeee margin. He is the something new, different, and bold that the USA is starving for. It is in BOLD PRINT across your face all day. Why is there such denial about reality? The media said he had no chance from day one, that nobody would vote for him, that he's not electable. They are still saying this and also that he has no chance against Hillary.
Kasich is a nobody moreso than Romney ever was and will keep voters at home, whereas Trump is a movement and will set a record for voter turnout.
I'm not wishing for anything, I'm broadcasting reality.

The media is what put Trump on the map in the first place combined with his Reality T.V, show. Kasich is the real deal and Trump is the"trumped up" media phony. You're entitled to see it differently but Kasich will beat Clinton and Trump will not be President.

Thanks so much for your post, Jason88. I became an independent for the same reason you did. I also used to be a democrat but that party completely disappointed me due to the awful policies and weakness of Obama and the disingenuous lying and multiple scandals concerning Hillary Clinton. Like yourself, I'm hoping for a brokered convention and a Kasich nomination, and, most importantly, a Kasich victory over Clinton in November.

He lacks a "presence" factor on television. Love or hate them...Hillary, Trump, Cruz, Bernie...all have commanding presence through the camera.

Kasich did best in Ohio where people know his actual work, but that doesn't help him on the national stage. Kasich would be a good pre-1950's candidate before television mattered.

"Registering the mentally ill" is the 1st step towards kissing all our rights away.

It may be a step, but just being registered on a list doesn't violate any right.

If you had a very bad single or series of events happen to you like a parent or spouse died, lost your job, foreclosed on a house, lost money in the stock market, and you became depressed, were treated for temporary relief, you would all of a sudden be prevented from owning a firearm, likely forever.

If you are diagnosed with a mental illness and deemed fit not to own a weapon. Then, yes.

If you carry a pocket Constitution and use it to defend your rights, you may be deemed extreme and possibly mentally ill.

I think any professional doctor who diagnosis mental illnesses would disagree.

A spouse/partner or family member may have it out for you, call authorities and say you are acting crazy and are a threat to yourself and others, even though its not true, you will be locked up for observation and put on a list. You would be deemed mentally ill enough to be denied the right to own/carry.

No you wouldnt be deemed mentally ill enough to be denied the right to own/carry.

May I remind you that trained doctors are the ones putting the mentally ill on a list. Not BS calls from family/friends or the authorities.

This subjective list could go on forever.

I guess, a nonsense list.

It is similar to the idea being floated of using the No Fly List to deny permits. You could find yourself on either list by accident, clerical error, and be denied the right to carry/own a firearm.

The diagnosis process is a very well executed system with trained professionals.

If Kasich is for registering folks on lists, then he is the enemy and we want him nowhere near the Oval Office.

The polls I've seen have Kasich beating Hillary by around 11 percentage points and Trump losing to Hillary by around the same margin. Trump, in any case, has more than demonstrated that he is totally unfit for the Presidency whether he runs as the republican nominee or as an independent on a third party ticket. In the latter case, he'd lose to Hillary by an even greater margin.

Kasich is the best candidate out there given his executive experience as governor of Ohio, his prior experience working with Congress, his ability to unite diverse and opposing factions, and his overall statesmanship and civility buttressed by a strong moral compass.

All Trump can do is talk out of both sides of his mouth, divide, spew poison and racism, incite an environment of deplorable toxic violence, and become America's first fascist dictator if elected.

He's not getting nearly as much attention because he's not a complete windbag of a jackass, that's why. Trump & Hillary are, thus, media circus.

People are passing up a damned good Republican, IMO. My leftie self actually feels bad for him being ignored, he's well-grounded & sensible with his ideas.

It's an unfortunate phenomenon, but not unexpected, that the most successful candidates are the biggest assholes.

Consider the previous Republican race 4 years ago: you had an entire ward of wingnuts, religious fanatics, deeply ignorant narcissists, a mendacious sociopath in a suit, and Governor Jon Huntsman. How far did Huntsman get?

I didn't suggest he was.

Just pointing out why ATS is only focused on the same 3 people the media is.

You bet! And there can be no greater asshole than the Trumpass!! It is Obama and his deplorable failed policies that have nearly wrecked our country, combined with way too much undeserved media attention so as to increase T.V. ratings, that have created this ego ridden jackass and potential fascist dictator.

All the while, because he isn't the most attractive media darling out there, a fine candidate worthy of the office of POTUS, Gov. Kasich, has been largely ignored and overlooked. This is an outrage and a shame!!

Correct,Indigo5!

The people in Ohio who know what Kasich can do are the same folks who voted for him and awarded him all of Ohio's delegates in the primary the other day. If the media starts paying more attention to him and less to Clinton, Sanders, Cruz, and the asshole, Trumpass, Kasich will do much better as this election process grinds on.

Don't believe everything you see on the ratings obsessed media. Funny how Trump always delivers that message but only where it helps him defraud the people he wants to keep mesmerized. Wouldn't be surprised if Trump payed for the message you just posted.

I could get into how Kasich is an establishment plant whose purpose was to sit on his hands the whole election no matter how badly he did, just to ensure the race never came down to 2 candidates and force a brokered convention.
