always thought they used the Glock 9mm.....

Although I heard a rumor it may change to the HK USP45

this was to replace the Sig-Sauer P226

I could be wrong but I think its the .45

IMO its a better pistol and a lot of police and SF are returning to it, or considering it. The only good thing about the 9mm IMO is it shot NATO ammo which standardized the rounds.

I thought they were switching to this....the H&K SOCOM.

You can find more info here:
www.hkpro.com...

And Amuk was right. It is .45 which was deemed best for one-shot takedowns eliminating the need for the double-tap. A 9mm is still used however in certain situations such as onboard an airplane when a higher caliber would punch through the "skin" of the aircraft. In that case "frangible" bullets are used that will do one-shot takedown, but cannot go through the plane.

I believe these are the standard handguns though:
Colt .45 -reliaable
Sig Sauer 9226 - high ammo & accurate
Hekler & Koch P9S - high ammo & accurate
Smith & Wesson .357 - waterproof

Actually I thought they were using the Glock model 20, 10mm. The knockdown of a 45 but much less weight.

As far as I can tell, the Spec-Ops are already being equipted with the Mk23..

That site had some faults on it though, M203 44mm grenade launcher?

Dont they use what ever they want there is no set pref. Depending on mission and enviroment. But the SOCOM seems to be a fav.
