And Amuk was right. It is .45 which was deemed best for one-shot takedowns eliminating the need for the double-tap. A 9mm is still used however in
certain situations such as onboard an airplane when a higher caliber would punch through the "skin" of the aircraft. In that case "frangible"
bullets are used that will do one-shot takedown, but cannot go through the plane.
I believe these are the standard handguns though:
Colt .45 -reliaable
Sig Sauer 9226 - high ammo & accurate
Hekler & Koch P9S - high ammo & accurate
Smith & Wesson .357 - waterproof
