A guy I know is a flat earther and someone on facebook suggested he went on a cheap flight to see for himself that the earth is not flat. No joke this is a copy and paste of his reply....
we see what we believe (or have been led to believe) take an easy jet ride without your filters. the glass windows on planes are curved, so you can't go by what you see. if aeroplane glass windows are concave, then the image you see outside of the window is distorted.

According to MATHEMATICS (remember, you want us to deny our eyes and rely on the numbers) the curvature would not be visible at any altitude occupied by commercial airliners...what is your point?

You realise there are countless mathematical ways of proving the earth is round, from right here on terrace firma, right? I won't go over them again as I can't back arsed to get into this pointless topic too much. Plus other, more patient members have already listed them and explained them.

Yeah. I am not asking for all of them though, am I Copernicus...I am just asking you to accept the one indicating how high up we humans must be in altitude prior to actually seeing curvature...Really...Just print that one...and then explain why I have a picture of the Chicago skyline on my crappy smartphone camera from over 20 miles distant in NW Indiana...do not let the door hit you in your arse on the way out.

Disdain and contempt? You are arguing for flat earth. No one is showing you disdain and contempt. They are showing them to the idea of a flat earth.
Really, if you are going to argue (badly) against the earth being a sphere then grow a thicker skin and stop whinging when people put you in your place.
I'm not indulging you in this idiotic topic

Allow me to rephrase your statement so to fully elucidate the readers:
"Yes, I did demonstrate disdain and contempt. totallackey asked me for a simple math equation and I am butthurt because I am the one who was actually put in my place. I am losing this argument and I do not care now if the door hits me in my arse on the way out. The nerve of some people to test my knowledge on this subject by asking for a simple math equation... I am taking my toys and going home."
Yeah...that sums it up quite nicely. I was wrong, you are funny guy.
Neil says it is an oblate spheroid, shaped more like a pear. See any photos from NASA that are shaped like a pear?

I don't know. That would depend on what lies you're talking about. Can you be specific?
With all of the half truths and hidden information (lies). So its only natural to doubt someone who lies. Am i wrong?
The word planet is nothing but a term for a type of body in space. No longer calling Pluto a planet does not mean it is not a body in space. I don't really care, if you want to call Pluto a planet be my guest. But calling the Earth flat is silly. Unless you believe it, in which case the only word would be ignorant. Willful ignorance.
All signs point to the earth being round but all signs pointed to pluto being a planet.

I come in peace.
Hello, ignorant_ape(or 3danimator or anyone else), I would like to formally challenge your beliefs.
(because you are the op and you put so much time into something many people call ignorant, stupid and a waste of time)
Do not be angry or rage filled, I mean you no harm. I have a list questions for you:
(questions that are of the up most importance to my contribution to this thread)
Yes or no
1. Has science ever been wrong about an idea or theory pertaining to the earth and universe?
2. Do GoPro cameras bend or curve the image/video it takes?
3. Can anyone really setup an expedition to the Antarctica Continent? (If so show me, because i have tried)
4. Has anyone ever traveled across the entire Antarctica Continent?
5. Explain please and thank you. What makes you so sure that there is not any faulty ideas or errors in the heliocentric model?
6. Why have we not been to the moon again?
P.S. I am not trolling. If you do not wish to answer my first questions, then i will not response after that with any seriousness to the topic. To me picking and choosing parts of one's post shows a lack of interest in said topic. So if that is what you will do don't waste your time It's pointless.)
(Disclaimer - I neither judge or feel hurt butt when others judge me.) POP4LIFE
Now that that's out of the way. My view on the matter is.... on the fence.
Lately I have been leaning to the flat side of things on this argument. (I like to debate, its a hobby)
Now I am no geologist or astronomer, but i fancy wisdom. To be honest nasa has been looking like a bunch of fools as of late. With all of the half truths and hidden information (lies). So its only natural to doubt someone who lies. Am i wrong? There are so many theories and models of the earth and solar systems. Most act like there are no errors in the present day models and ideas. Though there are faults in many of those things. (Pluto comes to mind) So until we as a race reach the technology for space travel. I am not counting out the flat earth theory. Just saying. All signs point to the earth being round but all signs pointed to pluto being a planet.
Be > than close mindedness.
Pop4life. cheers

Imagine if you could travel back in time to ancient Greece and tell Pythagoras that some malakas will still believe in a flat earth in 2016.

It would be amazing to test that out, but then I would probably get thrown to the lions or something

No. That would be the Romans, not the Greeks.
