I think what you posted in the OP is good advice. Don't let some inbred cornball discourage you into leaving.

In fact, you should stick around and post more stuff like this just to be a thorn in their side.

We should all listen to the preachings of someone who has been a member for less than a week...

This is exactly the kind of nonsense that's gotten ATS to the point it is today; where a new user simply chooses to disengage due to the disrespectful demeanour of users who feel they are more entitled to be here than someone who's "been a member for less than a week.."

Address the topic, or stay out of it. You have contributed nothing of worth.

From the T&C's

16d.) Forum Gangs And Topic Control: You will not engage in an organized collaboration with other members to disrupt thread topics or interrupt the flow of normal collaborative discussion. You will not attempt to control or otherwise shutdown valid conversation on a topic through the use of prolific posting of an unpopular viewpoint or other single-purpose standpoint. Doing so will result in removal of your Post(s) and immediate termination of your account.

The OP raises a relevant issue that is common place on ATS as of late: poor quality content.

To the OP, i would encourage you to see through this veil of perceived superiority and stay the course. Ignore these types of comments and move on with your presence here without engaging in the rhetoric - there are members who respect objective discussion and can engage without resulting to ad hominem attacks and character assaults.

I for one, think you have raised an excellent point that some users may find helpful, not everyone is an excellent writer, and not everyone has the for-knowledge to format and organize their thoughts effectively into a thread.

Nor is there - as far as i am aware - a section for thread standards where new users can refer to to ensure they are submitting a thread worth reading.

Precisely this.

Some good sound suggestions OP.

There are many who could definitely make use of some of that sage advice... it's a bit of a learning curve to get the hang of what works (or doesn't) when creating forum threads (or even simple posts for that matter) for those who are new to this whole thing.

And kudos to you for keeping your cool in this thread when dealing with pissy angry trolls who didn't get their regular morning fix of pulling the wings off of flies.

See, the antagonist created activity and interest in the thread.

"No publicity is bad publicity"

Success from Scandal

Succès de scandale is French for "success from scandal", i.e. when (part of) a success derives from a scandal.

It might seem contradictory that any kind of success might follow from scandal, but scandal attracts attention, and this attention (whether gossip or bad press or any other kind) is sometimes the beginning of notoriety and/or other successes. Today, the often-used cynical phrase, "no such thing as bad publicity" is indicative of the extent to which "success by scandal" is a part of modern mass media culture.
