No worries. I hear getting old happens to the best of us.

I'll just have to see it through Scott Kellys eyes.

I'm sorry for you also.

But you have a very important job in spreading the word to the youth of the world, of how cool space exploration is. You have seen things that they can only watch in a video.

Spread the word. Knowledge is power.

We need to get the younger generation excited about it.

I kept my then 10 year old child up very late to watch Curiosity land on Mars. He had no idea what kind of History he was watching, but someday, I hope he appreciates it.

Just one hour away from hopefully a safe landing.

I have had the pleasure of watching Scott Kelly undock from ISS live tonight! Wow, what an amazing accomplishment for him. Not the longest stay for a human in space, but still pretty impressive.

He will return to earth in about 3 hours and land in Khazakastan. I am sure there will be a debrief and acclamation period for him after living in zero gravity for so long.

They have monitored both him and his twin brother, Mark, (who remains on Earth) to see the affects of such a long period on the human body. When asked how it was, he replied he could go another year.

Caught a snapshot of the burners kicking in about 2 minutes after they undocked from ISS.

And a link - www.techinsider.io...

Here is to hoping this is a step towards manned missions to Mars.

I wish him a safe entry. I read hundreds of his tweets, definitely a stand-up fellow. His brother is probably much the same. An emotional event following such a long time floating free in zero gravity.

I have to be up at 4am, but this is too cool.

I wouldn't be able to sleep if I tried.

And then there's the Super Tuesday thing. It's like Superbowl Sunday here without the alcohol. LOL!!!!

Found it interesting he said the FIRST thing he wanted to do is jump in his pool.

After a year weightless in space...he wants to come home, jump in the pool....and become basically weightless...again!

Thanks for the links doodle. Missed the undocking but am watching the interviews on terra firma.

Year in space is nuts. He must be so happy to be back. I watched a few docking and undocking videos the last few years and find them fascinating.

No. It's inside the Belts.

The Space Station orbits in low Earth Orbit at only about 200 miles up. The Van Allen Belts start at about 600 miles and end at about 30,000 miles.

Why do conspiracy theorists love the van Allen belts so much but always get facts about it wrong?

I fell asleep 10 minutes before landing!

Glad to wake up and see he and the team made it safely.

Aww man. That sucks. Reminded me of when I set my alarm to listen to the Mars lander that was attempting to land with retro rockets a few years ago. It was very early morning and I did wake up and put nasa tv in and fell right back asleep. Doh

What could be the side affects for this long duration in space here on earth?

The easiest answer is this article on Wikipedia - Effect of spaceflight on the human body.

I'm not that well versed in the latest in space medicine but I was surprised to see Scott Kelly walking around unassisted. Whatever they did, it looks to have pretty amazing results to me!
