This interview tells all.....
The Kochs and their cronies have 889 000,000 $ to fund their choice of puppets in this election......
Author and reporter Jane Mayer dived deeply into the money trail of the Kochs political activity to discover the flow of dark money being injected into altering the American mind set......

The brothers — David and Charles — run the second-largest private corporation in the United States. Each is worth an estimated $45 billion. They have used wealth and power to wage a covert campaign to shift American thinking and policies towards their own far-right libertarian views, Mayer says

Proof that politicians are for sale.
The Fracking Wilks brothers gave Cruz $15 million and Cruz mentioned fracking during his shady apology to New York, he went on to belittle the Governor for not allowing fracking in NY. Cruz is a for sale, anyone who votes for that crook most likely has a low IQ or some sort of problem with comprehension. Article here

Correct.
Labor unions not only throw money, they also have the members out at the polls trying to push the voters.
Corporations and banks are famous for spending money on both sides of the aisle.... they can't lose.

Close but no cigar. Thats pure BS ,What they have done is the opposite of far right libertarian views.

BOTH KOCH AND SOROS OWN the dnc, gop, and MSM and both their agendas is to continue to expand the current OLIGARCH not democratic or republican ideals, and certainly not libertarian views.

Furthest right would be libertarian, which is the exact opposite of what an Oligarch wants when they own the gov't .

The Oligopolies control our gov't > gov't controls the market and the consumers.

A libertarian gov't would be small and would have less control of the market and the consumers. Which is the exact opposite of what they want.

They want bigger gov't since they control it. The more the gov't controls you and the market , the more power they have . Hence why BOTH democrats and Republicans give you bigger gov't , less personal rights and privacy, and more Oligopoly friendly laws.

Yes. Further to the right is no govt at all.

Your thread is perhaps the most imporatnt of any political thread here. It cuts through the theme that corporations are the problem. The problem is the fringe, destructive ideology that has made possible the worst of corporate behavior.

Too bad it takes our friends to our north to point this out to us, but then, often when engaging in self-destructive behavior, one does not see it and it must be pointed out from family and friends.

This is not about money given to any political campaign, nor is it about corporate lobbying. Those have always been around. It is about the ideology that allowed these things to metastasize like an aggressive cancer in the American body, with no way to fight back.

It is found only in the Republican Party, because it came from the fringe of that party. It is what has driven the party to the extreme right, made itself mainstream, and now divides the party.

The GOP has always been the party of the wealthy and big business. That is not the problem. Up until 1980, government had been the firewall between citizens and the worst aspects of capitalism. Certain decisions were made in the 1980s to break down that firewall. Some blocks in the wall were taken out then put back, but some were taken out and never put back, weakening the wall. If the fringe ideology had not taken hold, we may have seen the firewall repaired to not allow capitalism free rein to wreck havoc.

Govt still would have functioned. The GOP still would view govt as necessary, although in need of constant tinkering, which is the function of those who serve in Washington. Govt could be used to fight the worst of corporate behavior.

What changed was the Koch ideology of NO govt, "drowning it in a bathtub", which they spread much as how a rumor is started and kept fed by the rumor mill.

Citizens, through their govt, could stand a chance of fighting back against corporations run amok and wanting absolute control of govt. This new ideology would merely eliminate govt all together!

And by propaganda, citizens were brainwashed to believe that govt is evil and must be eliminated. With the new Koch ideology, corporations are your friend and will help your lives to be safe and better. Trust us.

The Kochs started their rumor campaign, by whispering "eliminate govt" in 1980, and then they used their dark money to keep the rumor mill going. As with any rumor, we don't know/care who started it when we hear it, and we believe it to be true, especially when it is "confirmed" by others, especially by people just like us or an "authority". But if we investigate, we usually can find who started the rumor and how it was spread.

And that is what Mayer did.

We can fight corporate recklessness and lobbyists, but an ideology is harder to fight, especially an ideology that would take away the tools with which to fight back.

The GOP never purged this ideology from their midst, allowing it to grow, especially aggressively the past decade, and they are dying from it. The ideology took control, and to rip it out now is sure death. And they are too weak to walk it back.

Another rumor, which is a lie, is that Soros is not an American. He holds dual citizenship, as do many Americans (ex Ted Cruz until very recently): Hungary (birth) and United States (naturalization '61).

David Koch ran as VP on the 1980 Libertarian ticket.

So this is not—it’s an organization that I think people need to understand is not just about elections. They’ve been playing a long game that started 40 years ago, when Charles Koch really got involved in politics in the beginning. And they wanted to change not just who rules the country, but how the country thinks. They’re very antigovernment. They are—and they have pushed this kind of antigovernment line for 40 years through many different channels. And it’s kind of a war of ideas as much as anything else.
..............
it begins long ago. In about 1976, there was a plan laid by Charles Koch to build what he called a radical movement to change the way that America voted and thought. And he said we need to, quote-unquote, "destroy" the statist paradigm and start a movement. And he modeled it on the John Birch Society. He loved the secrecy of the John Birch Society. And there’s a paper that is quoted in here that he wrote in 1976 about how he was going to found a movement and launch it. So, this has been a long, long-running project. And he’s built it up. He’s an engineer. He’s extraordinarily wealthy. And he has worked with a number of very smart people to build this network that tries to sort of push, push, push the country in his direction.
