English is the official language of America. Look at all the road signs, laws, ect. All written in English. English will also be the official language of Humans when we become a type 1 civilization according to Michio Kaku. Many foreign countries are already taking steps to make this happen.

Regarding Mexican immigrants that love living in America, why not make Mexico more like America?

payback for that rant of yours when you complained about my have/haven/heaven use...

Aw s@@t sorry. You know I once did a whole thread on how picking someone's grammar was a cheap shot. I was carried away in the moment in that thread. There's no excuses but check my last thread, it may give you a handle on where it all came from.

That said, no excuses... My shot was cheap and you Spanish is clearly far superior to mine!

EDIT And your grammar by the looks of the above.

If it were then DMV would not be printing driving instructions and exams in 50+ languages and you would not have to press '1 for English'.

You're gonna get all kinds of backlash for this thread and it'll become another "America Bashing" session, no doubt. I applaud you for having a huge set of brass "cajones" and not being afraid to speak your mind. The America Haters and PC police can pucker up and kiss this American behind if they don't like it.

Easily solved by a three step process.
1. Secure the borders. Either do that via the wall, the National Guard being deployed along the border, or permitting states to strengthen their levels of enforcement.
2. Enforce the damn law! Here illegally? Deportation with NO exceptions whatsoever. "Benefits" (which I am opposed to in virtually any case, anyway) should never be granted to illegals. Further, change the law to state that, while any children of illegal aliens born inside the US borders are legally citizens, that is no longer an open cattle call to their parents to remain here. When the American citizen child has reached the age of 18, they may move legally to the USA... until then (unless they have a resident relative who can become legal guardian) they are wards of their to-be deported parent(s) and should be sent with them back to their country of origin.
3. Assimilate or leave, bottom line. There is an American language, culture, tradition, and way of life and if an immigrant will not adopt it, we can point them swiftly to the exits.

From someone who lives on the Texas border: i have no idea what you are talking about.

I know a lot of folks who don't speak English. They aren't doing it to slap Americans in the face...they do it because nothing necessitates change. Or, to put it another way, its not often that someone who doesn't speak Spanish has anything to say to them that is worthy of hearing.

What you will typically see from immigrant Mexican populations (especially among the ones who aren't here legally) is them do everything in their power to stay unnoticed. Its not rude....its shy. Because blending into the wall is how you don't get deported.

A quick way to be deported is to embrace every gringo you see, and share with them exactly how you manage to get/stay here illegally. I would hazard a guess that you can find plenty of warm, open, and inviting Mexican folks already deported back to the other side. Whats left is what you describe: people who learned to stay quiet and stay out of sight.

At least, thats how it is here in Texas. They aren't separate because they like being loners and outcasts. They are separate because the risk of openness is deportation.

Sitting here looking feverishly for this "American Language" that you refer to. Could you point me in the direction of the legislation that codified this "American language"?

reconquista

By the looks of it they are wining

Illegal immigration into the southwest states is sometimes viewed as a form of reconquista, in light of the fact that Texas statehood was preceded by an influx of U.S. settlers into that Mexican province until United States citizens outnumbered Mexicans 10–1 and were able to take over governance of the area. The theory is that the reverse will happen as Mexicans eventually become so numerous in that region that they can wield substantial influence, including political power.

Funny thing WAR has CONSEQUENCES. They lost the land. This was before the UN stopped allowing the seizing of land for compensation. SO no it wasnt stolen it was legally obtained acording to the powers who ended the war on both sides.

Wow, what a great question. I wonder what kind of stuff the US could do (or stop doing) that might make Mexico a better neighbor for us, and a better place to live for our latin friends.

Grossly wrong. No one was displaced when the lines were drawn and even the old Spanish land grants are still honored. We don't call ourselves Mexicans, we are Americans of Spanish descent, and we don't like illegals any more than our gringo cousins.

There absolutely is an American language, though it largely a tradition rather than any officially codified law. The English spoken in America is often very different from even that spoken by our Canadian neighbors, let alone the British. We have regional dialects and our language has adopted many words from other languages (and even invented a few along the way.) My primary point is this: "Press 1 for English" in America is the lingual equivalent of segregation and, based on the Brown vs Board of Education decision of 1954, could easily be interpreted as an Unconstitutional attempt at a "separate but equal" public policy. Hell, even in schools it represents a government sanctioned segregation... If you speak English, you're required to obtain certain proficencies and a number of course hours in ENGLISH before you are deemed "educated" and receive your diploma (or GED.) Look, however, at the state of public schools in America. TESOL was supposed to revolve around TEACHING ENGLISH to non English speaking students, instead it has mutated into Teaching in a language other than English. That's separate, but by no means equal.

Total claptrap.

The English that Americans, Canadians Australians New Zealander's etc speak is exactly the same English language.

If it wasn't the same language then we wouldn't be able to understand what each of us is saying would we ?

I take it that you can understand what i have written in this post, as you maintain you speak different English than i do .

You gave me a good laugh anyway.

If the South coudnt leave th eunion this surely wont happen. MExico signed their claim away when they conceided defeat. Legally there is no ground to stand on.

I fit comes down to it the US wil call imminent domain and take the land from them for national security.
