Hi, all. Does anyone use Google hangouts? I use it to talk to my lady and we've had nothing but trouble. It drops calls like crazy. The audio breaks up and it sounds like a robot. I could be sending messages and they don't send or show up until much later or not at all so she thinks I've left. All in all I'm not impressed. They should have called it hangups. I'm just glad it's free. There's no way in hell I would pay for that. Anywho, do any of you have the same kind of trouble? If so, how do you fix it? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You can do messaging and video calls with it. That is when it wants to work.

I use GrooVe IP and i get no problems at all but no video calls. Could always use skype which has video calls but more resource heavy on phones. Then theres Talkatone which is only good for sms but not calls due to the same issue with Hangouts. If your phone service has good internet access all of then should work out fine.

Thanks. I'm using a laptop and she's using a phone. Is resource heavy also data heavy?

The connection strength makes a big difference, at least in my own experience.

O do not? and I'm not exactly happy that Google updates try to turn my phone into a Google one. I like the search engine and email but the other stuff is filled by other things... every update need not try and fill.

Google if someone needs it or wants it they will come to you.

I used it for years and it was flawless. Talked to my now wife almost every day, chat and video.

ETA: Used Skype and it was terrible, so we switched.
