Does anyone have tips on writing/drawing a children's book?

One last thing I'd like to add... There a piece of advice I've heard from an older entertainer, but I think can apply essentially across any form of media.

When writing children's books you gotta consider you are producing a product that's going into homes, and that will have some impact on its readers, adults included. Would you feel comfortable having your material in the hands of your kids or closest child relatives?

There are actual books with "u" and "ur"? I would agree with the idea that that seems illiterate.

well I'm typing online right now, I don't need to spell out you or your or you're, I will write properly when I'm writing the stories

Um...I asked if there were such books. Regardless I'm unsure what's difficult about spelling those words out, but again this is not for argument, just an inquiry if such books exist...It's good to read what one has written.

EDIT: What sort of stories will you write? Depending on gender I could imagine science fiction being great for young boys and fantasy for both (more so to girls if it tells a tale of a princess and more for a boy if it has such things as dragons). That's what I'd think anyways.

I would say that the good members of ATS are a good bunch to ask.

I started writing a childrens story 20 years ago and they finished it off for me.

It was for younger children than you are looking for but worth a look at....

The Gurgle Burgular Started by myself and finished by ATS.

Ive written one. Tell it by thinking like a child (not much beyond what they understand of comprehend in age level language and concepts).

Think like a child and try seeing from their eye's perspectives....
