Here we have Death Valley blooming.



Ahh, now isn't that better?

While not completely unheard of, but still not a very common occurrence.

It’s the best bloom there since 2005, according to Abby Wines, a spokeswoman for Death Valley National Park, and “it just keeps getting better and better.”

I know it's not Cthulhu coming to send us writhing into the depths of unspeakable madness, but I think it's a nice change of pace.

Cthulhu is sleeping it off near Antarctica.
But perhaps the pretty flowers are feelers or sensory organs of a different Great Old One from beyond space and time as it rises from the quiet sands of Death Valley...

Beautiful! Reminds me of when i used to work in the arctic. During the winter you would wonder how Anything could possibly live up there. But around mid to late july, the tundra comes alive with these small purple, pink,blue and yellow flowers.
Like a multi colour carpet across everything. Just amazing

I have a wild love affair with desert flowers. I live right on the edge of the Chihuahua desert, and get to have a nice mix of them and the hill country flowers that lady bird johnson made so abundant.
