Akragon
I gave it a try. That kind of thing is very common in South Asia, where I live. From Mahavira to Buddha to the latest
guruji raking in the
crores from businessmen with bad consciences, there’s no dearth of folksy-sounding sermons on the metaphysics of the Self. I find some more
convincing than others, but they’re all just opinions in the end.
If somebody isn’t convinced by the Sermon On The Mount, Akragon, I doubt that you’re going to persuade them by reproducing the wittering
explanations of some Indian god-man or other. Another approach is clearly indicated.
Explain to me why the survival and prosperity of our physical bodies and our social selves is less important than the survival and prosperity of some
intangible quantity that the mystics who believe in it cannot show or describe except in metaphors.
