Just because you read something, does not mean you internalize it. Many Christians use the book for judgement against others, while failing to use it to judge themselves. This goes back to man's nature, the one people need to be recognizing - but so often failing to do so in one's self.

Without internalization, the message is mere words which can, and often are, twisted and used to hurt, rather than to heal. But I will argue, it is not the fault of the Words, nor the message, but rather the fault lies in people.

Internalization is key - as it goes a long way toward removing the mote from one's own eye. There in that book, internalization is shown. But you are correct in that, for those who have not internalized the message, it is meaningless.

That all means that if you imagine yourself a 'saint', and see a world full of vain, hateful people, you are deluding yourself

I'm more of a full-fledged sinner with a heart of gold

Do I believe myself to be a decent person? Yes. I certainly don't entertain a 'sainthood...' Nice try putting words in my mouth though.

Please, let me translate for you;
I am saying that;
"We don't see the world as it is, we see it as we are!"
In light of this, if we see a world full of 'thieves' for instance (hypothetically, not putting words in your mouth. *__- ) that might indicate, to an honestly introspective person, that there is some inner 'thief' with whom we are uncomfortable, who we might even deny.
Whenever someone 'else' disturbs you, you can be sure that there is an inner conflict, something needing 'resolution', 'integration'.
A 'symptom'.
A 'demon'.
Whatever the metaphor that works for you...
A 'Demon' is an unLoved 'Angel'!

I'm not judging you, or casting aspersions, I was offering an allegory, a hypothetical as an illustration.
I'm just the mirror, at best! *__-

ego repression is a common theme found through spirituality to occult practice, why would that be?

Cutting to the chase, are you suggesting that "Because EVERYONE thinks/does it!!" that it affects Truth?
Is this what you are using to refute something that I offered?
What ALL the 'students' (at best) KNOW?

We ARE ego!
To 'deny' ego is schizophrenia, psychosis!
Symptomatic!

Ego is 'thought/imagination'... Mind!
Our perception of Reality, moment to moment, are completely unlike what Reality really Is, what We Are!
All existence is a moment of 'ego', the only way that Self! can be Known!

To 'believe' any of it, whether thoughts/imagination, concepts, or the rock on which you just stubbed your toe, is all 'imaginary/make-believe'!
To 'believe', is insanity.
It is not for us to 'deny' that which Is (insanity), but to Love, unconditionally!

Any particular problems with that? *__-

This is why most religious practices teach humility

The ONLY way to "teach humility", is to Be Humility!
Religions have no experience, they have book larnin', no real experience, as the mystics do!
The mystics 'been there/are Here, the vanity of the religious 'believers' ('belief' is an infection of the imagination = no real experience!) blinds them from unconditional Love.
Why 'Pride' is the only 'sin'.

There is no 'judgment', no 'do this/don't do that dualistic insanity, unconditional is just that, 'unconditional'.
The Loving eye does not 'judge', does not see 'evil' or 'good'...The Loving eye sees the Beloved! *__-

It is ALL inclusive!
One Omni-'Self!'!

After not thinking that religion mattered at all in youth, I have lived through my duality counterpart now to know that when you're ready to seek, you start going with the current instead of against it.

Poor or Rich we all gotta pay the piper some day.

The only thing I believe the poor have is drive especially when nothing to lose an everything to gain mentality. Ever wondered why a large portion of boxers are black? It mainly because alot come from poor famz and they have the anger. Plus there alot of rags to riches stories, like Oprah or Jim Carrey.

Also the whole slave thing may have it benefits when it comes to later generations as bad as it sounds. Example that story of slavery of the Israelites is bs...if that were the case most Jews wouldn't be pencil pushers and would be in better shape like Conan.

The rich on the other have really no were else to go except down really, they may have all the time in the world, compared to the average. However it can be mundane and an empty to the point where the hardest part of their day is deciding what to eat. While other like gates or Zuckerberg are content, to overall aggressive expansion like a colonial who has nothing better to do.
