Both conflicts are for one simple reason. Taking the energy money from Russia. Ukraine is a gateway for gas to EU. This had to be stopped to cripple the Russian economy. Russia countered by securing Crimea. This prevents the US from securing the Black Sea.This was needed badly to take out Iran as well as a great port to allow endless Navy pressence. US gets upset by this move. Begins sanctions. Russia is allowed to monitor Crimea as well as keep the Iranian Defense treaty.

Syria is the second piece. It borders Israel which would allow them to branch out in bigger territory. As well as oil reserves. Saudia Arabia would supply oil, gas through the pipeline in Syria to Turkey. Pumping energy into EU. Cutting off Russia.

So all the players have alot to gain. Gas prices are falling to further cripple Russia. The problem is time is running out. If Russia continues this plan would be void. Israel would be forced to continue to be a small region and no expansion. Saudia Arabia would loose the pipeline through Syria. Turkey would reap no money from the pipline deal. Simple as that.

I cannot speak with authority on the Syrian crisis because I have no information other than what is available to any other truly interested party and what they would find...However, with respect to the situation in Ukraine you are simply not correct. The situation on the ground in the region is infinitely more complicated and has so many more moving parts than are considered in your comment.

While Russia has involved themselves in the two situations, that is where the similarities stop.

I totally agree with you Leo,
However Israel has massive gas reserves off shore as does Greece and Cyprus....
These reserves are out of the war zone and they are going full on to provide gas to Europe...

It's completely obvious to anyone that has looked into it at all the situations while possibly being USA created, likely aren't, but absolutely ARE taken advantage of to put pressure on Russia. They don't like Vlad in DC, and have to pressure Russia as covertly as possible into removing him. Anything overt would cause nukes to fly.

There is a ton of other moving parts as 1 move equals a thousand reasons and vice versa. But the simple idea is as stated. Take Russia out of power by cutting its money flow. If you actually look at the amount of money taken in each year by natural gas by Russia. You would be amazed by the money charts. Nukes will fly if the chess board gets rattled to hard.

And Israel would gain a ton of land. Thats more important than the oil. Even though the oil is sitting right where they would be expanding.

It's well known here by many that Russia's main source of GDP is energy exports. That is why the US has done what it has done in terms of ramping up production, to "force" the Saudi's into a cut-throat position, crashing the oil market, severely impacting Russia. Not to mention as you said the Saudis want that pipeline through Syria to Europe.

Why would the US want to "secure the Black Sea"? Current treaties limit warship traffic into the Black Sea.

If you can provide a plausible answer to this question then I will pose another question... The sanctions against Russia have been levelled because of Ukraine and meddling in Ukraine by Russia. The US sanctions are miniscule compared to the EU sanctions, so why are you putting so much weight on the US sanctions impact?

What is really sad and devastating in both cases either in Ukraine or in Syria that is simple people who are innocent and just became victims of someone's plane "from the top".
Here is the question of humanity and life...

Look at the map. This would allow the US to port and dock near that area. Which can also resupply Ukraine. And it would be one more piece of land that the US gets to use. Notice the surrounding countries in the Black Sea. Remember Turkey holds the key to that treaty.

Almost. It's first and foremost about the currency energy is sold in.

Also, the South Pars/North Dome-Gas-Condensate field is in Quatar (and Iran!) not Saudi Arabia.
