The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit has ruled that Americans have a “fundamental right” to so-called assault weapons, a major victory for gun rights. A three judge panel ruled that Maryland’s Firearm Safety Act of 2013, ban against what the court called “the vast majority of semi-automatic rifles commonly kept by several million American citizens”, is a blunt violation of the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

It looks like the State of Maryland got it's anti 2nd law upset by a Federal Court. I will be watching to see how this impacts other such state efforts as well as some persistent federal level efforts at 2nd amendment rights dilution.

It's the separation in this mix that they do not understand. Certainly, not all semi-automatic rifles are close to the assault characteristics of the AR-15. You cannot lump them in like that.

What are "assault characteristics"?

There's no overstating just how much of a win this is for Constitutional rights. I'm hoping that this will lead to more upsets for those states who are dead set on violating the 2nd Amendment.
