The main difference is those guys are doing women a favour by wearing them.

Sadly, organizations like the KKK and Black Panthers and other race-supremacy group will never be gone because such hate for people not like one's self is both taught and part of our survival instinct. Well, maybe not "hate" proper as it pertains to survival instinct, but at the least, the skin-color difference creates an unhealthy skepticism. But the hate is definitely a taught/learned trait.

Until people evolve past basic instincts left over from our human past and the world is rid of ignorant people, there will always be racism and groups that come together as a result of it.

The KKK hasn't been taken seriously for a really long time. They became the boogie man of raciest groups and really aren't the group the once were. We should celebrate any symbolic disbanding of hate groups but racism has spread to other groups and we are more divided now then when the KKK was actually a thing to be taken seriously.

I suspect this is more wishful thinking (or publicity) on Stern's part than true. From 2012, Killen claims that he never signed over power of attorney

In documents filed Wednesday in Neshoba County Chancery Court, Killen claims his signature was forged and that Stern has neither power of attorney nor claim to the land. The documents don’t mention movie and book rights.

Klansman Edgar Ray Killen says he didn't sign over land

Great find. There's obviously more to the story. Really seemed like great news, but now I realize how naive I've been about it. Didn't know I was living under a rock.

Racism is sad. Any effort to overcome it, especially with knowledge and love really just excite me. I'm still hopeful.

Oddly enough, I think the "Muslim Threat" will actually be good for the KKK....give them something other than the negroes to focus on.....

Yes,
But the KKK are not just rascist this is what they are,

White supremacists,
White nationalists,
Neo-fascists,
Christian terrorists.

This is their hate regime,
Nativism
Anti-immigration
Anti-communism
Anti-Catholicism
anti-Islamic
Antisemitism
Homophobism

So, despite being white supremacists amongst all the other stuff, there are heaps of whities for instance, who don't fit their bill....totally whacko!

Well there is a vast difference between the Black Panther Party of the 60ts 70ts and the New Black Panther Party the originals were never rabidly racist and worked with white folks and others, matter of fact a number of Japanese Americans were among it's founding members, the New Black Panthers are hella racist and the original members disavowed any relationship with them, so much so as to win an injunction against them for using their logo, but enforcement was not carried out.

Yeah, I understand this, and I forgot to put "New" in there--there is a big difference, so that's a pretty big mistake on my part. Thanks.

Touche'! They are still here....just restructured and morphed into others...

Some of the older parts of the groups have stayed the same...but are known to frequently discuss passing on the "torch" (sorry...unintentional pun here) to the younger members to keep the dream ("nightmare" I suggest)...alive.

It is good to aspire to high ideals.

I grew up in a time when questioning was culturally permitted/promoted and investigative reporting was still appreciated, so I tend to "keep digging".
It is also good to put things in a context, which questioning and digging around can provide.

smurfy's post on this page pretty much sums up the KKK.

I think that racism is one thing, but supremacy (thinking that you're better than someone else) is another. Racism might not involve hate, but supremacism involves racism and hate. The KKK and other groups are white supremacists.

White supremacy is still around these days, unfortunately:

White Nationalism
