Honestly, I'm not so sure if this is a good move for Bernie. I know he & O'Malley want more debates. And I know a lot of people on the left want more
debates so we can counter the constant media exposure Trump & the Repubs are getting.
But I also know that Hillary is shrewd & is a tough opponent. And she has no problems pulling every dirty trick in the book. In other words, I'm
firmly expecting Hillary, the DNC, and the other "Third Way" Dems to use the additional debates to tear Bernie's plans apart, specifically with how to
finance them and his seeming lack of a foreign policy. Besides, I think Bernie's got her on the ropes. Not that she's about to lose or drop out, but
in the sense that he has all of the momentum & enthusiasm. And I only see those
increasing even if he lost Idaho & New Hampshire, because
people support his message and want an actual left wing candidate.
I really think the small amount of debates is backfiring on Hillary & Wasserman. The old tactics of attacking socialism & linking it to communism have
only backfired. So now, the Democratic powerbrokers are going to need more time to try to convince Democratic voters that socialism is bad. And
they'll need more time to convince voters that Bernie's plan will never pass in Congress, and whatever else they'll say.
Bernie, on the other hand, just needs to keep doing what he's already doing. The grassroots push for his campaign has been phenomenal & it's nearly
rendered corporate media obsolete. I think he's actually showing other independent and/or low visibility candidates the blueprint on how to defeat the
gatekeepers in the major parties.
