I'd disagree that it would have been impossible to place stars in the lunar sky correctly, otherwise the use of stars to navigate and fix positions
wouldn't have been possible.
What appear to be stars in this image aren't stars, they are faults in the photograph (the blue dots are a well documented feature).
Venus, however, has been spotted from the surface, and Apollo 16's UV telescope produced images that can't b done from Earth.
Stars and planets were photographed in lunar orbit and cislunar space.
