Hi all,

I've been a silent reader on ATS now for about 5 years i think now. I have made an account as i thought this the best place to ask for information.

Recently i have wanted to get out more and do something i love so i have taken up exploring abandoned buildings, haunted locations and that sort of thing.

The last place i went to, Clophill Church, had some markings on a wall and also on a grave.
I have googled and seen various explanations and also friends or people who have liked my page on Facebook have offered various explanations.

I would like to know if anyone here could shed some light on the symbols.

Here are a few screen shots.
I have included a link to the video as well at the bottom (If you want to watch anymore of my vids then by all means do, thankyou muchly in advance)

The name of the guy on the grave is William Horn and he died in 1675 i think it was.

We used to go to Clophill all the time. It used to be more scary but now it's full of chavs parking there at night, drinking and smoking.

There used to be a tale told that if you stand on a certain grave, you'll levitate. Lol. Tried all that. The only weird thing is that the Church is build the 'wrong way round'...

Thanks for replying.

It's was a little on the dull side even though it did feel super creepy when i was on my own.
When we arrived there were some people there sitting in a car but they left.

The previous video was of Cold Christmas, that place had a lot more atmosphere. Very eery.

Oh and i never levitated
Sounds fun though

Went there as a teenager a couple of times. It was a very creepy place, really weird atmosphere at night but we never saw anything. Apparently there was a local guy who used to come out and scare the crap out of people for jokes.

Yer it did feel creepy, mainly when i was on my own. I think the graves felt more creepy than the actual church itself though.
We didn't see any guy trying to scare people but did see a couple of ponies

LOL that vid reminds me of when i was about 14, digging round Kenton church at night, cool!
That cross looks definitely Maltese, which is the one used by the Templars and of course later by the Luftwaffe.
The teutonic knights cross is basically the same.

The circle around it though, is distinctly Celtic in origin, as can be seen in crosses in Ireland etc.
If someone other than me (limited time i'm afraid) cares to look into this guy's family history & that of the parish, it could make quite a thread!.

Definitely a conundrum, and an amusing post mate, thanks

I love some good exploration
It's a fun past time that's for sure ha ha.
My channel isn't going to be purely based on ghost stories, although i do want to test local legends

I did think when we found the headstone with the matching symbol on that it might make quite an interesting topic.
I would love to know who this guy was.

Maybe someone will come along with more info

I've really tried searching about quite a bit. I find possible family relations to him, but not him, i cannot find any records for that church, not 100% on what i'm looking for.

Thankyou for your reply, the Celtic bit is something no one has picked up on yet.
I haven't heard of the Teutonic knights either, will have a read up on them.
