My hypothesis (generous label..) is that ghosts, and many closely related phenomena, are representative of some type of EM processes that we have yet to really observe or understand.

I suspect the same when it comes to things like "chakras," and feel they might even be directly related. In the "chakra" aspect, they would be EM pools that are a natural result of our bodies. Similar to how a river or stream forms different types of structures as it flows over the Earth.

I think that these things may connect to arenas that are beyond what we currently understand as the physical. In "spiritual speak" it would point to the specific type of link between our body/soul and our spirit.

In my thought experiments on the subject, I envision the electrical aspect of EM as a result of magnetism moving through the temporal, creating some sort of friction. That would also imply that magnetism exists, at least partially, in a non temporal (or timeless) medium.

I don't really feel the current words and concepts accurately apply to the behavior of the process, but I think they do well enough in relating the overall concept.

In further examining this possibility, the implications can become rather fascinating.

*nods* I can get behind that.

You don't usually hear about a ghost of someone who died years later after being in prison haunting the prison -- generally it seems to be people have died while being incarcerated.

I've encountered two distinct types of "ghost" behavior -- one that seemed to have sentience and awareness, and the other that seemed to be more like a video tape playing over and over, as if an emotional memory was anchored to the physical world.

In the first instance, it seems that the more "aware" spirit-types aren't as aware as I thought. They don't seem to be able to "see" or differentiate people as well as you or I can. I've had stories related to me where ghosts or spirits have mistaken other people for someone long since dead. Also, these ghosts/spirits don't seem to notice changes in technology of modernity. I get the impression that their perception is tied to time period they last were alive on this plane.

If you think about it, we have a hard time seeing them -- so it would make sense that from their perspective, our world would be hard for them to see as well.

I also think that this type of psychic energy or whatever they are made from gets reabsorbed/recycled over time. You don't see ghosts of dinosaurs, cave men or Hittite warriors.

All liminal creatures (Fae, 'spirits', 'tricksters' and shaman by the way) get very cranky about being named *anything* as that 'attacks their liminal state'.

Interesting. Prajnaparamita is all about removing all titles, names, religions, etc, as being the last step towards enlightenment. Essentially the idea is that the sign pointing to the top of the mountain is not the top of the mountain.

It may be conducive for temporary entities to avoid titles and names, but this would mean that things Permanent and True would have a powerful substantial name. Perhaps this is why Jesus refers to his "name" so often, and insists we ask for things in his name: "and whatever ye may ask in my name, I will do". Also interesting to note that people in the Bible would name their children after the various events and circumstances that coincided with their birth.

You know I wonder about the other reality or density differences you mentioned.

At the childhood home I lived in we'd on occasion get a phenomena known to paranormal researchers as "Displacement". Basically when things disappear and then reappear at a latter time. In our house it would only happen in certain rooms and only with small objects, as if larger objects couldn't be made to disappear. Maybe whatever causes this phenomena doesn't have enough energy to do it with larger objects like you inferred.

Here's a typical example from what used to go on in the dinning room. A small trinket, no bigger or lighter than say an envelop or jewelry, would usually be the object that would disappear from the dinning room table. You'd leave it in the dinning room. Everybody would be elsewhere and accounted for. Say, watching TV on the other side of the house in the TV room. Come back in 5 minutes later and it'd be Gone. Everybody would search for it to no avail. Tear apart the house. Whatever the object was it would simply have vanished. Two weeks later it would reappear. Exactly where you had left it, exactly. It was like it got sucked into another dimension for those two weeks.

This same house would have non serious poltergeist activity on the top floor where the bedrooms were. My sister would see things move as a kid and tell us. We all didn't believe her. Until one day she tells me "the little bird in my bedroom is moving" she had a small stuffed bird the size of a sparrow on one of her shelves. So i'm in the room with her and were both staring at this thing when suddenly it jerks a half inch. It did it a few times and freaked us out. There were no insects or mice or anything touching it or manipulating it. It was just sitting there on the shelf. No breeze, air displacement nothing. It would just twitch or jerk as if something was poking it.

SO wonder whats up with poltergeist activity too. Is it more like some sort of telekinetic influence on small objects nearby you are focusing on. Why is it more prevalent with young women than men?

The house it's self we had psychics come out and evaluate. Most of them, wasn't many, said it was the location of the property it's self. that it was some portal, not literally haunted. Things came and went. Most of it benign.

A native american said it was the location too and that local indians never liked this specific spot of the canyon saying it had bad juju.

A housekeeper fled the bottom floor in the middle of the night saying she saw a full fledged apparition. She never returned.

SO ghosts, Slight poltergeist activity (more than what I mentioned above) and portals. WTH was going on with that house?

To make things worse dad had a bad habit of collecting African totums and wood carved statues that we were pretty sure he wasn't supposed to have. as in legally. One was 6.5 foot tall. The other was 2 foot tall and resembled a grey. We were terrified of that little guy as he was at the foot of the stairs that went to the upstairs bedrooms and we'd have to walk past him all the time. As kids, we always felt that it would be moving behind our backs. One time my sister thought she dreamed it was flying around the house going room to room. Very odd. It's possible bringing things like that into the house was a bad idea and that they carried some sort of spirit or energy with them adding to the bad juju.

Brings up another question. Can spirits, ghosts or whatever else. Follow you from property to property and through out life. Cause it sure seemed that way for me and my sister for a few years (about a decade or so) after. Was whatever that was coming through (if really a porthole) hitching a ride with us? Cause we saw other similar stuff appear later at another house a few miles away. Where I also saw the wraith. Or were we just from experience just more in tune and seeing things most people wouldn't notice.

The house has since been owned by several celebrities who's careers are going just fine and don't seem to be effected by any paranormal activity, except for one. At least if they have, they obviously don't share it publicly. The house changes hands frequently having just been sold again a few months ago. Maybe they do experience it? Maybe they are just being typical celebrities. Another thing to consider was it the property or the statues brought in that were the source of the activity if said other house owners since our departure haven't experienced anything.

So anybody wanna take a crack at figuring out what was going on at that house. I have several other stories about that place if the conversation leads that way. Even one relayed to me by a later, although former owner. But that one relayed story may have to be limited to IM.

I'd like to take a look at those books mentioned if you can find out or remember the titles.

As for sensing them. Here's something interesting that happens to me. Wanna know if others experience this.

I can usually tell almost within a few minutes if a place I am in is either haunted or got "something" similar going on. To me it's a vibe, or feeling coupled with a almost too faint to notice odor. I get a feeling like it's stuffy or the air is thick. Then I smell like a moldy or burnt smell. Almost like the smell of dusty old soil. Like the kind you would run into if you were crawling under your house.

A buddy of mine is a real estate agent for hollywood homes. Most of them the older ones in the hills. If they're pretty neat he'll ask me to come check it out. It's always fun to check out houses like that. Every now and then while getting the tour I'll get that feeling. I usually ask my buddy "Hey did somebody die in this house?" I'm never wrong, or at least haven't been yet.

Interesting about that house. When you mentioned the African totems,it made me think of when i was a kid.South Africa was a very safe country in those days and i could take the train alone into Cape Town from the suburb where i lived. I used to love visiting a specific curio shop on the Foreshore area. The had these huge Nigerian bird-creature totems, some were enormous, and some smaller vodun+juju dolls, some had still dirt encrusted in them, very authentic stuff,no mass-produced nonsense.

And i always could just feel,so distinctly, energy coming from/surrounding many of those dolls. Not a good energy either.I wasn't a scaredy-cat type of kid in general but i always only looked,i made so sure to Never touch or make any physical contact with any of those dolls. The large Nigerian bird-creatures did'nt give off such a negative vibe, but from a small child's perspective, they were imposing, almost intimidating, but very beautiful too. They inspired a cautious reverence.

I would say,for sure authentic totems and dolls can bring energies into one's residence.

I think also the ground on which your mentioned residence was built, could have indeed been influential. The Earth remembers..i believe she is a living sentient entity, well i think of Earth as a feminine entity
And just like one's body can be scarred by a vicious/atrocious happening,i do believe personally that there are many places on Earth where horrible events, much bloodshed,or chronic lowgrade negative activity, can leave a sort of a "scar"

Some places are like portals imo, where the veils or membranes are thinner, between dimensions, too, and where a lot of paranormal/inexplicable sights are seen and experiences occur.Sort of a borderland?

Well that's just my 2c,i may be wrong about that specific residence, but generally what i mentioned are factors at play when a place is really wonky.

Very good post!

I agree with the loved ones visiting you. My grandfather did a few hours after his passing. And my dog visited me a month after she was put down. I wasn't happy with the family decision to put her down feeling she had more days left. I couldn't be there when the Vet was coming over to put her to sleep, so I cried, hugged my dog Bear and said good bye to her. I had to leave I was afraid I'd attack the vet when she arrived or try to intervene.

A month later it was about 10 at night. I'm laying in bed miserable living in this really crappy depressing apartment in Van Nuys when I hear an old familiar clicking of paws on the wooden floor. I look over and my dog bear comes around the corner of he hallway and looks at me. I instantly feint and pass out. Instantly after I feint I find myself in a space that's softly lit by white light and clouds or mist. I can't see past more than say 15 feet into the mist. My dog bear comes trotting out of the mist and stands on her hind legs and "hug"s me. It was the most loving hug I've ever felt. It felt like it melted me from the inside out. Like an Ice cube inside of me melting with a warmth that spread from my core outward. She hopped down and trotted off into the mist. She looked back once before disappearing. I felt like she said "I'm OK. everything's fine, I have to go" I woke up instantly, as if only a minute or so had passed, tears streaming down my face and speechless. It was the only time in my life I was literally speech less. I went about my day and couldn't utter a word until at least noon I was so moved by the experience. It's the first and only dream i've ever had that I think wasn't a dream at all and was VERY real.

OTOH, a few years ago I was working for a Celebrity PR man who passed suddenly from cancer at the prime of his life. Walking down santa monica blvd a few weeks after he had passed I see him standing there on the side walk, he smiled with one of his patented grins and says "hey Dude!" Which is how he always greeted me. Then he vanished. This was in broad daylight. interestingly he never visited his wife (According to her) after his passing.

As for certain materials. This ties in with another members post here re EM. I believe certain materials do make a difference. Quartz other crystals. It's like they can be entrained with conscious energy or life somehow.

What i have sensed since first memory, growing up in a very wonky house,i could sense invisible entities hovering around All the time, and i would get this weird sort of feeling in my throat. Cannot describe it,not an ache or pain, not a tickle, the best way i can describe it,is a sort of "hysterical" feeling in one's throat,if hysteria could be a physical sensation. That house was slap bang up against an old deconsecrated church,Catholic,i think, and built on a graveyard. My adoptive father once dug out a human skull-in the patch where he'd been growing veggies

There were always weird things happening, and i wonder sometimes if my adoptive mother's one son,who was clairvoyant, didn't grow to be an alcoholic because of that house. Because from the time he finished his senior year in high school he would drink himself into a stupor most evenings. Why he didn't move out as soon as possible,i cannot imagine, but they were a very strange family and both her natural sons were very damaged, broken people.

I instinctively felt i should absolutely and always completely ignore,or at least Pretend to ignore, these menacing looming unseen presences i felt. When she sent me to fetch something in the lounge,in that area it was worst,i would chat to myself and sing little songs,to pretend to be oblivious and cheery. But i could Feel them,so keenly, and that feeling in my throat would be going off the scale.

In recent years, when we still watched tv,i would be the last one awake in the house at night, and watch some tv while doing arts+crafts. Then i would sense something very keenly, watching me from a certain area in the lounge. I would look towards that way,but nothing would be visible, although the "throat alarm" would be going off like mad. Well being older,i would just shrug,go back to watching tv and my art, because my way of thinking would be "Well, Stand there then, like a bloody ornament,if you wish, this is My house and i'm jolly well not moving till i'm done watching my show/finishing my handwork"

I've often wondered if any other folks ever felt that "throat alarm", that weird feeling in the throat when an entity is close.

Hello again!

In short, as one liminal creature speaking on the behalf of other liminal creatures: Naming feels like an attack...and it spoils all the fun of being liminal.

Haha! Very, very good point - remember the story of Rumplestiltskin and how furious he becomes? You can't very well be on the edge of things if you're pinned down by a name.

Now it's fine to use 'pet names' such as Melissa....as that does not attempt to crush the liminal state.... And it allows her to show off....peacock that she is. Just wanted to finish this particular story line. Not doing so is like dropping rice grains at the feet of an eastern vampire.

You use great imagery, very dreamlike. Just to answer for your first question:

"All spirits are pure" until a human agitates or corrupts them, is a good rule of thumb. I wonder if there is specific lore in your tradition akin to that.

Yes, I would say Selkies and Mermaids fit the bill for that one, also fairies really, who sometimes get 'corrupted' by men and can never go home.

I second that in regards to Chichen Itza. I've actually been inside that pramid back when the mexican govt was allowing folks in in the 80's it's has that vibe too. But similar to your colosseum experience the Ball Courts didn't feel haunted for some reason. Now if you really want to get that vibe, go to the temple of the magician at Uxmal. That place has some serious vibes.

When I was there I was able to go inside too and see the jade jaguar ... or whatever that cat sculpture was. Very narrow passages...

Now that I think back, your right ... the ball court didn't feel the same as the pyramid or the astronomy building.

Yes very narrow passages. those stairs are steep! And slippery and moist! then you get into that room and see the jaguar. I also remember a rickety latter you had to take to get back out or something. Very cool you also got to go inside. Did you also get to see the observatory from the inside?

Quite often people get a very strong smell before they experience an epileptic seizure. Some (whom I have known) will feel 'cobwebs' across their face and some will see flashes of light. I'm sure there are many more precursors too, these are just ones I've heard about. I noticed earlier in your wraith story that you saw a flash of light and I thought of temporal lobe epilepsy then too.

I'm not suggesting for a minute that that's what going on for you, I'm sure you'd be well aware of that if you had it, but it's interesting to think that maybe there is some connection somewhere. Maybe the same parts of your brain can be triggered by a different energy?

Its free electrons that are at least partially shielded from room temperature entropy effects to negate quantum superposition.

Some more advanced entities can work around that and just grab electrons and ions (and hypothetical fields/particles)

I'm not an expert however.
