Sorry but you are losing the battle here. Its all been ad hominem attacks.

The environmental movement has been hijacked and subverted to some other cause. A cause of coruption and control.

Being green used to mean something. Now its just a label. You can even find it on your beer can.

Losing the battle? Not likely. I have the majority of the world in agreement with me. Just like I did at the beginning of the thread.

If you don't believe that science is now dead.....

Can you tell me why any company should spend any money whatsoever on any kind of scientific research?

Obviously, any company that funds any scientist anywhere on any subject can be accused of either influencing a topic or of having "guilty knowledge".

Better to keep your money in your pocket and your mouth shut. At least that way, you have plausible deniability.

So I guess the only funding for research will have to come from the state and the only results we will ever see will be state approved before its released.

You clearly still don't understand what Exxon Mobile did wrong here.

No I really really don't. And since I have asked you for even examples, you clearly don't either.

Can you even provide me with one clear example of where Exxon lied to the public?

I've actually explained it several times to you, but here I'll do it again. Exxon Mobile conducted some scientific studies and determined that climate change is real. They took that information and made internal adjustments to business policy then turned around and told the public that the science was still up in the air. At least that is the claim in the article. I'm sure as the case develops we'll get more details about what happened too.

I have read some of these internal documents - most of them use words like "lingering doubts" "could" "may" and don't indicate a guilty mind at all - just prudent business men considering the possibilities, adjusting for the impact of government policies and laws

When exactly did Exxon itself make any such pronouncments to the government?

sorry - I meant public not government.

Did Exxon ever make any public announcements about global warming at all?

Exxon funds groups like the Heritage Foundation that have a vested interest in saying that Global Warming is a hoax. We all know that Big Oil (Exxon Mobile being among that group) funds most climate denial research, so I really hope you are only acting ignorant here.

OK - so I take it that you are admitting that Exxon itself made no such grand pronounments

So I guess funding groups like Heritage Fund is illegal?

What is the vested interest in Heritage Fund?

Does the government have a vested interest in the global warming theory?

I'm not admitting anything. I'm going to see what the lawsuit uncovers before I make grandiose assumptions like you are trying to have me do. I have my beliefs, but beliefs don't get a conviction.

Wait a minute - Heritage Foundation is a think tank. So now its illegal to even think differently than the government says you should. No one is allowed to speak except the government?

So this is an example of Exxon's criminal behavior

Heritage Foundation

While maintaining that “Science should be used as one tool to guide climate policy,” the Heritage Foundation often uses rhetoric such as “far from settled” to sow doubt about climate science. [44, 45, 46, 47] One Heritage report even claimed that “The only consensus over the threat of climate change that seems to exist these days is that there is no consensus.” [48]

Vocal climate contrarians, meanwhile, are described as “the world’s best scientists when it comes to the climate change study” in the words of one Heritage policy analyst. [49]

Heritage received more than $4.5 million from Koch foundations from 1997-2011. [50] ExxonMobil contributed $780,000 to the Heritage Foundation from 2001-2012. ExxonMobil continues to provide annual contributions to the Heritage Foundation, despite making a public pledge in 2007 to stop funding climate contrarian groups. [51, 52]

Exxon gave a donation of $65,000 per year for 12 years to an organization that, according to wiki received over 72 million since 1973 (about 21 million per year from other sources)

and the foundation had the absolute gall to turn around and issue a paper saying the "science wasn't settled" and that there is "no concensus".

Holy cow - that is what is being described as "criminal" behavior these days?

Will they also be investigating all of Heritage Foundations other donors? Surely some of the other donors have similar vested interests?
