Labour MP Khadija Arib has been elected the new chairman of the Dutch lower chamber of parliament after four voting rounds. Read more at DutchNews.nl: Labour MP Khadija Arib is new chairman of Dutch parliament www.dutchnews.nl...

Yay!

PVV leader Geert Wilders described Arib’s election as a ‘black day in history’. The party opposes her appointment because she is a dual Dutch-Moroccan national. Arib was born in Morocco and has been an MP since 1998. Read more at DutchNews.nl: Labour MP Khadija Arib is new chairman of Dutch parliament www.dutchnews.nl...

And Wilders was blasted for pointing out the obvious. He refused to congratulate her and then I saw people comparing him to muslim men refusing to shake a woman's hand.

He is refusing to congratulate a person on a promotion she shouldn't even be eligible for. I don't understand why she is even allowed to be in Dutch politcs if she isn't even willing to fully commit to our country.

I think this is outrageous on the matter of principle alone.

The rest of the parties seemed very pleased with this shining example of "integration".

Is this against Dutch law? Does this person reside where she is elected? She has been in Dutch politics since 1998, seems her loyalty resides there.

If we don't know the law there, there is no way to analyse this further.

I haven't found out yet, but like I said it should be against the law anyways.

Yet she is not willing to denounce her Morrocan citizenship.

She obviously resides here in the Netherlands.

She is not elected, not by the people anyway.

While I don't really see a problem as people should be judged on their ability to do their job not based on their heritage or nationality, I can see that this is nothing more than a publicity stunt to show "integration" like you said.

The important question to ask is was there a better candidate for the job ?

Well, she's an advocate of women's rights, which i good in my book. She was imprisoned in Morocco for her activities.

As a Muslim women she will know the appalling plight of women in many Muslim communities in Holland and the rest of Europe - not to mention the entire ME and North Africa. She'll certainly have an inkling of the ignorance that is driving the mobs of young men in Germany and their sexual deviancy.

Yes, a few days. She is now part of a workgroup that advises the Morrocan king and goes on trips paid for by the Morrocan government.

Something even some other Morrocans in the Netherlands think is unacceptable,

Prominent Morrocans in the Netherlands feel that parliament member Arib should seize her advisory work for Morocco They feel her job as representative of the people is irreconcilable with her membership of the migration workgroup that advises the Morrocan kind directly or indirectly.

in the 29 years i have been around in the Netherlands i never seen a politician who gave a damm about our country , they only care about the speed that money enters their wallet.

Small Edit to add :

The Dutch Government even wants to prosecute his own citizens who went to the middle east to fight ISIS.

Yeah, saw that last night.

Basically they are saying that as a Dutch citizen you are only allowed to kill people in another country if they tell you themselves.

Charged for "murder" on IS fighters, as if the guy is not in a war risking his own life out there.

Based on what law are they allowed to prosecute someone for actions on foreign soil, without a request from the country involved?

Apparently there are over 200 Dutch citizens fighting against IS with the Kurds, and a lot of them are ex military. I guess they don't like their former assets going "rogue".

When it comes to positions of power over a country I would say it does matter if you have an allegiance to another country.

This woman was already talking about, what is effectively, silencing Wilders if he would make any more comments like calling the Dutch parliament a "fake parliament", when she was still only a candidate for the position.
