I mean the lyrics were patriotic. You said they weren't. This would have been considered patriotic in the pre-obama presidency days. Maybe you can tell me what IS patriotic.

This is probably Patriotic too.

a reply to: SkepticOverlordI like it, sort of reminds me when the United States and the USO went out to sell war bonds, the Patriotic felling that has been long gone has reemerged, maybe that's what we need more of, more patriots instead of complainers, the young lades did a good job, lets see all the negative people get up there and do that.

I say the same thing, sing all you want, sing with your hart, for politics, for religion, personal whatever, but darn when I don't like a song, I just don't listen to it, that is my choice, personal choice.

I guess because is of political meaning or to show how people should feel about their nation is now such an issue.

I find the whole thing hilarious, actually I didn't even knew about the song until I read it here in this thread.

What that tells you.

They are what Lenin called useful idiots. They cry for a thing until they get it, and when they do they cry no, that is not what we asked for!

They cry about this being a police state, yet they vote for it every single time. Suddenly, there is a glimmer of hope we might get away from that police state we are heading for, and they scream fear freedom! fear it!, we cannot be having any of that!

weapons grade baloneium

That is hands down the best thing I have ever read. Trademark that!

Okay on topic:

Definitely brought up the bile!

I really don't like it when anyone uses kids for propaganda, teachers should not do that, choir leaders should not do that however, call it bias if you like, a candidate at a rally, endorsing it... is a whole new level of sick.

We aren't talking about a teacher etc... who can and should be questioned/actioned (child well being at risk) for having such terrible judgement. What can anyone do against a person in Trumps position? Not vote for him? Well obviously. What if he actually wins though?

Okay - just some observations and stuff from "the old days." The song these girls did is nothing that would stir patriotism in me, nor would it inspire me in any way or "melt my heart." But that's just me. In the past, if you want to look at a wee bit of musical history, patriotism was very common in musical theatre and movies.

The Trump song the girl's performed had a musical "quote" of "Over There" which was a song to rally US citizens into World War I, written by George M. Cohan. Here is a version of it... This is patriotic old school stuff - but I have to say I like it better than what these girls performed. If you watch it, you'll see the social/racial and military roots of the time. I wouldn't call that part "Making America Great Again" but it is the culture our elders grew up in. Trump is 69, born in 1947.
"Johnny get your gun..."

And this is how they did it back in the early days... Grand Old Flag... I have to say, this is one of my favorite old time patriotic songs.

The Andrew's Sisters...Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy...swing it ladies... (I like them!)

(I just watched several Shirley Temple vids and decided not to post them - she's a great dancer - better so than a singer - but man, some of that stuff was blatantly racist and other such things - its a little hard to watch like "Dixiana" with a blackface chorus from 1936...wow!)

I guess when you live in a nation like America where we are told from birth that we are free and have rights, for centuries, those freedoms and rights starts to become obscure by agendas, everybody have a way to interpret the extend of those freedoms and rights, politicians that pander to the feeling of certain groups be for oppression, or liberties get their fair share of followers that will gladly give away their rights to chose so leaders can chose for them.

Now we are not even asked anymore as voters if we really wants what is forced upon us this days.

Most people don't even know what they really want, they just know that they are supposed to complain about everything.

What the hell is wrong with patriotism?

All you people see is "brainwashing".

I see some kids singing a neat song about America.

I miss patriotism in my fellow Americans. That's part of what's wrong with this country. Everyone is for themselves and their individual ideology - race, class, religion, orientation - instead of standing as ONE GREAT COUNTRY.

To everyone who doesn't like what these kids did - DOOM ON YOU.

It's not propaganda singing, but this Olivia ad is pretty close. How many pandering groups does Olivia manage to check off?

And we're not using children, but she's the youngest volunteer!

Did you find the lyrics from a website or did you watch those videos over and over again to get them written down?

God, that was embarrassing to watch. Trump shouldn't pay whoever made that crap up because it's bad work and he doesn't pay for bad work.

Brainwashing at its finest. Trump supporters need to pay attention to this because these are the same exact tactics Obama's campaign used with that "Mmm mmm mmm, Barack Hussein Obama" song.

I'm sure Trump supporters will eat this up though all while still condemning Obama for the same exact thing.

Now this is the kind of strength our leaders need to show against our enemies! Lets show them how much we care about the fringes of our society and how compassionate we are. That will show them! I can already see the jihadi's dropping their AK-47s, taking off their bomb vest, and praising Hillary's wisdom!

My thoughts exactly. Now watch Trump supporters eat this crap up while at the same time condemning Obama for doing it.

The whole "it's only okay if MY guy does it" mentality will be in full force. Lol.

Trump did not write the song.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

And that matters how, exactly?

Hell, Trump probably didn't even come up with his buzz-worthy double-speak catch phrase, "Make America Great Again" either.

It is not a neat song!

If someone got a bunch of little kids to spout crap like that about my country, I would be hunting for the square bashing Nazi bastard in the background, orchestrating the whole thing. Let's be clear, there is nothing neat about any of what was being sung there. That there, was a group of little girls talking about an old man swinging his flag wrapped member around like a damned lightsaber.

It was a bunch of jingoistic, ego fluffing, ra ra BS, that has not been acceptable since the fall of the Reich.

Get a grip!

It probably goes back to stuff like this.

Kid have been used in campaign ads for a long time. Isn't it an extension of doing things "for the children?" Not much different than when this or that president has a kid there to help him sign an important bill.

Patriotism isn't bad, really, but that particular song was.

I posted some old time videos up above - www.abovetopsecret.com...

Even as a "liberal" I like the music in these infinitely better than what the girls did. They need better songwriters and better choreography/performances, imo.

The fact that it was in support of Trump just made it weird for me. For the record I don't like the Mmmm Obama song thing either, though it looked like it was some local little classroom, not an attempt at a national performance at all.

Anyway. Peace to you. "It's a Grand Old Flag, it's a High Flying Flag and forever in peace may she wave..."

its a group of children singers, who came up with a marketing ploy since they market themselves on freedom. And Trump fell for the marketing strategy and hired them for a rally performance. These kids will probably never do another Trump song, but it will help them to gain popularity in their age group and more media attention.

On the anniversary of 9/11 they played in New York their national anthem two song..

is this horrifying that a group of kid singers decided to sing songs they personally think are patriotic seeing the events of terrorism this country has been through?

Its not that bad a thing, in time their marketing will change as they are a music group, and whether they fail as a group of singers is an unknown, but they have taken a course and are good with singing patriotic songs...

is this a crime? Are children only allowed to sing songs about violence and rape and murder? WHAT is the problem with this musical group that you have? That anyone has?

That they have a marketing campaign and a strategy to gain fame that you don't personally approve of?

This is America, these kids ought to be able to sing about what they want - and apparently this is what they want.
