I think what was being overlooked in the swedish situation is their desire to avoid a groupthink situation.

This is what happens when you get everyone percieving a threat, recent failures, moral dilemmas... it makes individuals give up thinking to the most simple base emotions and becoming part of a larger entity that will think for them.

Before you provoke such a wave of mindless power, it is probably a good idea to really consider in what direction you are going to channel that (and make sure you are capable of doing so).

I suspect collective entities are exactly like individual entities - they seek to survive, they suffer from cognitive bias, they compete with others....... the perception of a large group threat does NOT stimulate most people to turn to their own power as an individual. Our rational drive is to join a group which is just as large (or more, ideally). To announce to a nation that they have such a large group threat in their midst is NOT going to provoke people to think intellectually.
They are not going to pay attention to details and subtilities ("does that small child amongst the enemy need to be killed as well??" " Is that person really one of them just because they have a similar appearence??")

Being in positions of power, you can't afford to just throw the people into such a state whenever.... that is irresponsible.

I have a friend from Denmark visiting me at the moment, I asked her about what she thought of the refugee situation and was shocked to hear her say she didnt think about it.
When probed and asked that she must have an opinion one way or the other she responded "I dont like to think about it because if I say anything everyone will think Im a racist"
That absolutely blew my socks off!!!!

You have almost an entire continents worth of people holding their tongues and gritting their teeth to scared to say anything for fear of being labelled a racist or a nazi.

Yeah, that is what we've been dealing with over here for all this time.

The fear of falling into a group think situation, after what they went through in WW2, is huge.

Problem is - a group entity can only be countered by a group entity.

The dillema is terrible and has held the europeans paralyzed too long already.

Again, Groupthink.

Go look it up for your paper. You're welcome.

What's your thesis? You sound like you need to narrow your topic down. Specificity.

hint hint: use Groupthink as your focus/mean. PM me if you have any questions. I'll help you if you want. School doesn't start again for me till the 25th and I'm bored lol

I like hive mind better. It gives a more animalistic feel to what we are seeing everyday. They have foregone reasoning in favor of the hive mind because it is much easier to just follow the leader and let someone else think for them. That person doing the thinking for them should actually be looked at by them as an enemy, because that person doing the thinking for them is using them in a very contemptuous way.

Just like when the main stream media uses the black community as cannon fodder to stir up trouble by enticing racism to happen by telling them they are oppressed and downtrodden and they should be angry and upset. Obama does it as well, but then after these deeds are done, wipes up the mess by pretending they never had a thing to do with it in the first place.
Remembering the Ferguson riots when the president and media jumped the gun on the facts and condemned the cops before any facts were actually confirmed, and this caused the riots to happen. by enticement and provocation.

And then "Hive mind" took over, and that is just one example. Naming it group think or hive mind is just mincing words.

The people who do these provocations using different groups or political affiliations are doing so in a way that resembles picking up a mean cat with claws and throwing it on dogs. The cat forgets he was thrown at the dogs and will now be fighting and shredding up the dogs, while the person who threw the cat steps back and watches the fun!
This is exactly what the MSM does, and it is exactly what our president has been doing to promote his radical agendas. Pitting one type against the other with deceitful schemes intent on starting big problems so he/they can step in and suggest ways to save the day!

So true .... It is even very prevalent here on ATS *racist* and *bigot*

are being thrown around like confetti to silence anyone with an opposite

view point.

There is a new and particularly vile phrase to enter the language

*taharrush gamea* which is Arabic for *collective assault*

From an article by journalist Virginia Blackburn

This is what happened to women across Germany on new years eve
most notably in Cologne, and its also what happened to the CBS reporter
Lara Logan in Cairo's Tahrir Square.
Lets not beat about the bush here - the perpetrators are young Muslim men,
roaming around like pack animals and behaving like savages. It stems from
a culture in which women are treated like dirt, and it must be stomped on
before it gains any credence here.
Except that some women are in absolute denial about what is going on.
Forget Angela Merkel and her criminally stupid policy of allowing anyone
and everyone in, forget eventhe moronic Henriette Reker, the mayor of
Cologne whose first response was to tell women to dress more moderately,
rather than tackling the real cause of the problem....namely the
MEN who should be rounded up and thrown out of Europe without a second
thought.
We have our own group of naïve idiots eager to put the blame on anything
but the culture these thugs come from, starting with Clare Short who has
said the cause of the attacks was 'poverty' and 'racism'. Oh no its not!!
Then there's Gaby Hinsliff who appeared on the Today programme to say
that people opposed to 'mass migration' are dinosaurs filled with "frothing
rage" .... well she's right about the last bit!!
Quite a few of us are indeed in a "frothing rage" both about the attacks, and
the fact that there are some women so blinded to reality that they refuse to
accept what is happening.
Another of them is a German writer called Claudia Hammermuller, who said
"we must not confuse the issue of immigration with the issue of sexual
violence?
There has never been a better time to be a woman in the west than now
The rest of the world is a different story and we FORGET THAT AT OUR PERIL.

I couldn't agree more, the progress of women toward equality can in one fell

swoop be reduced to a third world status. A backward step which ever way

you look at it.
