Now this really pisses me off. The RIAA has been on its crusade to kill P2P just as it tried to kill cassetes in the 80s, and now in 04 they INCREASED thier sales despite widespread d/ling by 2.3% !

news.bbc.co.uk...

PS. ATS needs a corporate conspiracies forum...

If you confront those companies with numbers like that, they'll just show you other, "tweaked" numbers that show you how much they've lost due to p2p. This is really getting ridiculous .

Want a solution?
1)Cheaper and easier legal downloads.
2)Wider choice of legal downloads.
3)Extend the Digital Millenium Act to legally downloaded files.
4)Make the pop bands churn out more singles and less insipid albums.
5)Increase the efficiency of the mainstream trade: right now, unless you are a huge pop star, you get a miserable 0.25c for each one of your CDs sold worldwide. The rest is swallowed by the highly ineffecient corporation. Smaller, indipendent labels (like German Nuclear Blast) give the artist a bigger share and sell CDs at lower prices. And they make a profit too. That's why they have become so popular.
