It's finally happened...Some schmuck watching from home is suing Fear Factor b/c he was discomforted by what he saw...

Watching contestants eat dead rats on NBC's gross-out stunt show "Fear Factor" so disgusted a Cleveland man that he has sued NBC for $2.5 million, saying he could not stomach what he saw.

Yahoo! News

I don't really care for the show...in fact I think it's quite stupid...but I know a few people who watch it - and in fact I saw this very episode this guy is suing over....It's so damn frustrating dealing with ignorant slobs like this....

Here's a part of the disclaimer that appears before the show:

Some episodes contain graphic scenes. Viewer discretion advised.

'nuff said....

I saw the promo for that episode and decided I couldn't stomach watching that, so I watched another show instead.

I guess he didn't see the part of the show where they explained what they constents were going to do?

I stopped watching Fear Factor after an episode where they were eating maggott ridden cheese because it was getting too disgusting for my tastes but I'm not about to sue anybody.

I am surprised to see this lawsuit from a viewer.
When I saw the thread title, I thought it was a contestent who sued.
I saw Joe Rogan on a talk show and apparently they have to sometimes spend hours trying to talk these people into eating this stuff.
Some of them are so opposed to it they actually start crying but a few finally give in.

Rats could be on the menu for more people every night than the average Cleveland viewer would care to count from the comfort of his armchair.

From reading the topic title I thought this may be a suit brought by a contestant - but I imagine FF has the most exhaustive indemnity clauses for its contestants of any program in TV history.

Is the US overly litigious? Is this event worth $2.5 million in damages? Is it newsworthy? What is wrong with this picture?

Is the US overly litigious?

Absolutely. Was it Shakespere who said, "First, hang all the lawyers"?

Sounds like a plan.

Watching contestants eat Pisky's Socks on NBC's gross-out stunt show "Fear Factor" so disgusted a Cleveland man that he has sued NBC for $2.5 million, saying he could not stomach what he saw.

That would be $25 million, and besides, you photoshopped that to remove the maggots from the sock.

The thought of watching someone eat bugs is enough to make me

(And eating Pisky's socks is even worse
)
But if people want to watch it, thats fine by me. How stupid can you get when you know that the show is going to include eating bugs and still watch it, and then get all offended about it.

This is either a scam or a gimmick for Fear Factor.
