This is interesting - according to the Guardian Ted Cruz is using psychological data taken from research covering thousands of people on Facebook without their knowledge. Here's the link to the story. Is this even illegal? It seems like a hell of an intrusion at the very least, but I'm no legal expert.

There is no expectation to privacy when information is posted publicly.

Its why you should read the T&C before posting on face book as any data you give them is facebook property.

Obama hired people to do this for his campaign too and it was considered edgy and the future of politics, you know, datamining so his campaign could determine who voted and which of those people would be most likely to be swayed to vote for him.

But I guess it only gets creepy when someone of an opposing viewpoint does it?

Completely agree...

Not to mention users have the option of restricting what information can be seen by the public as well as friends. My only issue is the survey. The article makes it sound like the survey was done under the guise of a false reason (we want you to take this survey on transportation infrastructure while the real reason is hidden).

If people don't like facebook doing this then they should find a different social media site to use.

OMG he is using public information!

Newsflash, don't make info public if you don't want it publicly available.

Bingo. Both sides do it, but the Democrats air of superiority either makes them do it more or makes me notice it more.

I have heard Democrats tell me they fully believe Kennedys have committed murder, but they should not go to jail because they stick it to Republicans.

Not even like its in small print either.

Facebook make it very clear and repeatedly over and over that they own what you give them.

If you find you have data shared by facebook you dont want you only have yourself to blame.
