Images Show Turkey Covertly Constructing Airbase in Northern Iraq

TEHRAN (FNA)- Turkey is building an airbase in Northern Iraq without the knowledge of the central government in Baghdad, images show.

Images taken by field sources in Iraq display construction of an illegal airbase named 'Bamerne' by the Turkish army in Northern Iraq.

No authority, not from the NATO coalition or Iraq's weak government, Turkey just want on a land grab in Iraq. Have they gone insane? Erdogan is hellbound to start a war.

They HAVE authority ... ISIS obviously has given them authority to build a base, just a few hundred yards away from them. NATO allows them to do it ... in fact, you can expect this to be a "test" on the Iraqi government, as well as the Russians.

Turkey is dumb enough to do it ... NATO want's to see what Russia will do, if Iraq asks them for help. NATO is fully expecting Russia to keep "bitchin". And Iraq, what are they going to do ... it's been several days and they're not even "trying" ... just "bitchin".

If it continues like that, given that US and NATO will sooner or later come "in full strength" ... what do you think Russia or Iraq are going to do then?

They're poking the bear...

Two-minute analysis:

Whether or not it shows an airbase is being built I cannot tell, but more importantly i cannot see any ties whatsoever to Turkey in these pictures. If anyone can, please point it out to me.

Also, the pictures show such a limited area, that it could be anywhere.

In conclusion: I would be very cautious of accusing any party of anything based on this.

Can't wait for the anti-Russia, pro-west, pro-Turkey and whatever they are called now, and see just how can they explain this.

So like Russia gets the green light from Baghdad to send a barrage of cruse Missiles from the Black Sea ,but only after they have their toys there and followed by a bombing campaign that will go viral on YT ....done and done . eta ..

Interesting that those photos have been out for at least a year...so it isn't something not known.

Illegal: YES.

So the Iraqi government didn't notice this base being built for at least a year...I have a hard time believing the Iraqi government (who btw don't like the Kurds) didn't see that another country was building an airbase in their country.

Just an observation here, but if your building a covert base in another country why would you allow pics to be taken and posted online?

Didn't know that the topic of this thread were when those photos has been taken.
Of course, you have the right to not answer my question, but something tells me you're being dishonest.
It's that simple. Turks are building military airbase in another country. Hard to understand really.

You have a hard time believing them because their country is #ed up since US invasion, and that they are still recovering from that mess.

Doesn't matter how long it has been going on or not. Iraq has stated they want them out, so they have to leave. Illegal? Oh most definitely. Inciting more paths to war in an already volatile region? Without a doubt

The topic is about those pics, which are being used in the OP source saying this was covert and showing that is not the truth isn't related how to the premise of this thread?

Of course, you have the right to not answer my question, but something tells me you're being dishonest.

About what?

I posted a source that shows these weren't from some covert base since they have been around for at least a year...what is dishonest about that?

Never denied that did I?

What I have trouble with is the fact the OP source is being dishonest since they say it is covert but pics of it have been online for a year...not exactly covert and not exactly unknown now is it?

Wow pay attention this time will you?

I have never denied the fact that the base is in Iraq, but I have to deny the fact it is covert and unknown when pics of it have been online for a year...is that clear this time?

Am I missing something here, because I have never doubted Turkey built the base, and I never mentioned anything about what Iraq wants them to do...I am addressing the fact the OP source says this is some covert secret base that Iraq is just finding out about when there are pics of it that are a year old, I don't believe Iraq is that stupid.

It was not Turkey who started on this base initially. Turkey have taken it upon them selves to use this base on invite from a thrid party.

THe reason Iraq dont approve of this is because Turkey never asked the Iraqi government if they could use this. The Thrid party who have the IRaqi approval..... have no leagal right to allow the Turkish military to use the base.

That is common sense to anyone. that a thrid party cant invite a other nations military to man up a base within Iraq.

The Iraqi military is a bad joke, a bunch of untrained kids brought in after "mission accomplished". It would not surprise me in the slightest that they are only finding this now. Sure # look at what happened when they took on ISIS, out numbered them nearly 10 to 1 and just turned and high tailed it out of there and then ISIS flourished in their own back garden..... But regardless of if they knew about a year ago or just last week they don't want it happening, Turkey has gotta get the fudge out of there.

Maybe they were foolish enough to believe what NATO and the US were showing them and telling them .Not like the PM is going to go look for himself now is it ?

You are right that it could be anywhere in the world. We must assume that it is where they say it is, because it might be legit and very much looks to me like a runway under construction, early phase if they plan to put down asphalt. But certain aircraft can land on dirt runways, and of course helicopters.

But there are other reports about the Turks having troops in Iraq last week or so. This makes sense in that regard.

Erdogan is a maniac, eh?

Am I writing in a language that isn't known to humans?

I don't doubt anything to do with the base or who used it, or even that Iraq want them gone...my problem is the fact this base has been known for a year and Iraq didn't know this base was being worked on for at least a year when pics have been online that long?

THe reason Iraq dont approve of this is because Turkey never asked the Iraqi government if they could use this. The Thrid party who have the IRaqi approval..... have no leagal right to allow the Turkish military to use the base.

Never questioned that and that isn't the problem here...it's the fact that this can't be some secret covert base Iraq didn't know about when it has been known for a year the base was being worked on by Turkey.

Again I don't believe this could happen without knowledge of it by Iraq...remember Russia is in the ear of Iraq which makes me think they are doing this for Russia.

That is common sense to anyone. that a thrid party cant invite a other nations military to man up a base within Iraq.

It's also common sense to know that if pics of this base have been online for a year it is far from being covert, or unknown by Iraq.
