Hey, I don't know how many linux users there are here, but here goes:
I installed fedora/red hat today, and downloaded the linux version of BOINC, and despite following some instructions, I cannot install it. Could
anyone please help a linux noob? Thanks
I took a look at the installer. Did you extract the files first? You need to install from command line for the linux/86 version. so you need to enter
" ./boinc_4.13_i686-pc-linux-gnu" (do not enter the quote marks) in the terminal window and then just answer the questions
I used to have the same issues with Redhat and Mandrake. I switched to Slackware and I have never had an install issue since. My best guess is that
some linux distributions are so bloated with every piece of software they can think of that they cause major dependency issues.
