According to whom? The media? Yeah, we can trust them..(really?) listen, Colorado is no different than aywhere. There is no more violence here than anywhere else. I'm shocked actually, as ive repected you as a member here for a while, but wow. This whole thread has turned into a big shocker, with all kinds of things being thrown about from racist accusations to leave colorado. You guys are braver than I. I happened to be in the vicinity of the Halloween shooting with my family and now this one is just up the street from home... Earlier today I was about ready to go move out to the mountains and get away from this town (still stay in Colorado though).

But, ultimately there's nutters everywhere, so I guess it'd just be an illusion of security...

Yes, the media and Mightyrahiem who confirmed a Halloween shooting. Columbine and Aurora shootings don't make me feel any better about people shooting innocents in mass. Violence is everywhere but mass shootings such as these seem to be on the rise and Colorado has been the victim.

Now that you mention it, things do seem to be getting pretty dangerous.
2012 when the mountains caught fire, 2013 when the forest caught fire, now 2015 when crazy people shoot people at random.

I still feel safe.
I dunno, I figure if i was gonna be scared of anything like this happening, I might as well wear a diaper all the time and crap myself at the thought of a meteorite zipping though my skull at any moment.

Yes, there was another 'mass' shooting event here less than a month ago. So what? That is the most frequent stuff like this has ever happened here. And it happens anywhere.

Honestly all this shooting and the past one have proven is that CO police have a damn good response rate and tactics when it comes to dealing with these crazies.

Parked in a handicap spot near Planned Parenthood's front door, Ozy Licano, 61, of Manzanola in eastern Colorado, said he watched helplessly from his driver seat as a rifle-toting assailant pursued a crawling man through the parking lot and into the medical clinic.

Glass shattered in the clinic's front doors before the bearded gunman - tall, trim and middle aged - followed the crawling man inside and unleashed a barrage of gunfire, Licano said.

The gunman appeared to shoot the crawling man before directing gunfire elsewhere.

Dazed by the outburst of violence, Licano said he followed his first instinct and stepped out of his 2002 Honda Accord, looking for any escape.

"I just kind of lost it there. I tried to get out of my car and run. Then I thought about that and said, 'No.' I got back into the car. I started it. I put it in reverse and started backing out."

That's when the assailant calmly turned and leveled his rifle at him, Licano said.

"He was in front of me, and he was aiming at my face. And then I just hit the gas, and he started shooting."

Licano said two bullets flew through his windshield, passing either side of his head, during his escape.

He said he heard other bullets "impact the back of my car" as he drove away, he said. Licano drove to nearby King Soopers, 3250 Centennial Blvd., and sought help inside.

He described the shooter as a middle-aged, bearded and wearing hunting gear and a hat with ear flaps.

"He was tall, and slim, and he moved like a healthy person, but I think he had a salt and pepper beard," Licano said.

The killer said nothing during his attack, and directed a cold, steely gaze at Licano during the "5 to 10 seconds" they faced each other.

At least 1-2 seconds elapsed between the gunman's shots, suggesting he wasn't armed with an automatic rifle, Licano said.

"It didn't sound like an automatic weapon, because he would have finished me off," he said.

Media can't get his age right. He's either 57 or 59. He's from South Carolina.

From SC?? Wonder why he needed to come to the great state of Colorado to do his dirty work. I'm not saying he should've done it there, just wondering why he came all the way up here?

Mass shootings don't happen everywhere. There is violence everywhere but usually you know what areas you can expect violence in. People going on murderous rampages and taking out innocent people they don't know is scary.

Wrong. The whole nation has been a victim of mass shootings and violence. Youre taking things from the 90s and adding them into this case. Yes, there were shootings on halloween, and then this. But how many shootings were in chicago? How about oakland? New orleans? They aren't safe man, colorado is being reported on more often because people dont expect it, but its everywhere.

Go ahead and keep blaming colorado though, we dont need more people here anyway. In the last 10 yrs i-70 has been infested with tourists and rich assholes who want to infest the place, so stay away, no skin off my back!

Apparently he was living in Hartsel, just up the pass on 24.
Its pretty common for folks living around there to do their business in the springs.

I'm not blaming Colorado, that would be silly. The whole nation hasn't been a victim, mass shootings haven't been going on in every state but mass shootings have happened in other states.
