Not sure if the news has already broken here on ATS, but...

American Turncoat Pollard is Free!

I didn't realize we were in the business of letting spies go. Of course, if you spy for Russia you spend your life in a supermax prison.

My understanding is that Pollard sold information that would give an opponent a first strike capability, i.e., an opponent like Russia would be able to take out US nuclear weapons that could be launched in response to an attack. In MAD doctrine, that would mean the cities would still stand and be held hostage to a second strike by the opponent. In other words, Pollard single handedly (well, with his Israeli handlers) brought the US to the brink of losing a nuclear war.

This makes the thread I posted back in July all the more interesting.

I'd agree with you, but I'd hate to be labeled as an anti-Semite. I can't help wondering, though, if Robert Hanssen should convert to Judaism and become an Israeli citizen as a strategy for not living the rest of his entire life behind bars.

I just don't know what else to add to the thread. Spy on the US for Israel and get released with a hero's welcome. Maybe Hanssen could convert to Judaism, become an Israeli citizen, and make some story up how he was selling US info to Russia as part of his work as an undercover Mossad mole.
