What could the terrorist strategy be?

I have being trying to make sense of the madness that Islamic fundamentalism manifests in the form of extreme violence - what could they possibly gain?
What if isil are engineering a prophecy, that is to make events depicted in religious texts, become a reality
Kind of forcing the situation.

I think the islamic bible predicts many nations rising up against Islam, in a kind of armageddon style scenario, well isn’t that exactly what they are engineering?

Extreme provocation (rape, beheadings, suicide bombers, abuse etc) designed to pull all these countries into a conflict, to make a prophecy come true, to force it to happen as predicted.

It seems to me we can actually debunk all these religions and their prophets by positively stopping these things from happening. If we say NO we will not accept this as unstoppable, we will NOT have armageddon, we will NOT entertain any idea of thermonuclear war. this way we can free ourselves of all this superstitious religous nonsense.

The problem is my premise promotes a pacifist agenda, and possibly appeasement, which is a problem.

So I don’t know what the answer is.

But we can decide our own future, since tomorrow hasn’t happened yet, as long as I can remember we used to see people wandering around with “the end is nigh” on sandwich boards. we see people promoting religions in towns and cities preaching about the “end times”

We need to paint over it "the beginning is now"

I hope it is.

Well, they want:

1) For the West to be afraid of all Muslims, and to start responding with fear and loathing.

Success.

2) For the West to continue dropping bombs on Syria and Iraq, killing more civilians and creating more young people with nothing left to lose, prepared to go on suicide attacks.

Success.

3) For the West to not accept Syrian refugees, so that those people continue to starve and suffer, again driving them towards extremist Islam.

Success.

4) For the Caliphate to be increasingly a medieval theocracy with no economy and poor education and living standards, again so that young people have nothing to lose and have to join ISIS to make a living.

Success.


So thus far they're doing pretty well with their strategy.

Terrorism is it's own definition: cause and create terror.... Which it certainly is achieving.

That's it. And how do WE fight enemies that don't care if they die, in fact....they welcome death for themselves.... ?

I fail to see success in all of your points. I don't blame ALL Muslims. Syrians, for the most part, are just people who have never experienced our way of life. I don't blame them. They are forced into a life of the very least of everything, except propaganda against the West.

I blame those who promote, recruit, train, and sacrifice the lives of young people who are searching for their own truth. By your logic, most radical Muslims are men, therefore, do we hate all men too? Please...

I am lucky in my placement in this incarnation. Chosen or by happenstance, I am born in the land of the free and home of the brave. I travel freely, and without armed escort, to any state in the USA that I wish. I am free to practice ANY religion I wish. I don't live in filth with little food, no utilities, etc. I luckily and thankfully have all the comforts of life I wish to utilize. How do I blame others for wanting my station in life? I don't at all.

My first instinct is to render aid and assistance to anyone who needs help. My heart is full of saddness for those who were lost or injured in the horror of the Paris attack. Am I helping in any way? You bet. Do I want to take in Syrian refugees as my neighbor? They are people first, Syrians second. I admit that, while I don't fear people, I would be naturally cautious and would take the time to know their intentions. I keep the knowledge that they are displaced humans at the forefront...until they prove to be part of those human savages.

Look, if it were you and members of your loved ones, might you feel differently?

If we hate, they win. If we turn the innocent away, their propaganda begins to ring true. If we fail to help when and how we can, who have we become?

Geopolitical change against in Middle east where US/Saudi Arabia and Turkey get power and Shia (Iran and Syria) and Russia losses power.

All attacks are from Wahhabis the Sunni muslim extremist. Saudi Arabia is the country that is the home of Wahhabism.



Isis/Isil the problem created to implement the solution you want. When the plan failed in Syria and Iraq Paris happened to get west back in the game. Assad must go and Sunni side have to win since it can be controlled by Saudi Arabia and Turkey.

I don't believe they woke up some morning and said "hey let's do armageddon!" or it was what US, UK & russia wanted to happen when the first Afghanistan, Kuwait, whatever mess took place. This is built up for a very long time, and honestly it got so out of hands, peace isn't a choice, or option anymore.
But that's just me and i don't believe in this Elite with its long term plans.
It certainly would be creepy if biblical prophecies would take place during our life time...

Let's hope it is a new beginning.

IS/ISIS/ISIL is different from other terrorist groups in that they are a death cult as I understand it. They are kind of like an off-shoot of the Sunni religion but not really. I'm kind of going off memory at this point. They believe that the Mahdi (Messiah) will return if the world's armies attack Raqqa...which is why they are trying to anger every world power! Their religion sprang up in the deserts of Saudi Arabia; in fact I believe the Saud's asked the nomadic tribes for help when they conquered the peninsula and gave them religious freedom in return for their help. One of the reasons, I believe, Saudia Arabia is taking a backseat in the fight against them...and because they are attacking Assad.

Like other terrorists want X country out of their country or are against Israel, these guys just want to bring about the end of the world. In their minds, they are doing God's work which is pretty dang scary. I'm sure there are others on this board with a better memory/understanding of what's going on but that's about the gist of it.

What was the purpose behind the Paris attack?

What's the purpose behind slaughtering the Iraqi public (an average of one terrorist attack a day)?

Behind Boko Haram's mission of indiscriminate slaughter?

One can speculate, of course, and there is some comfort to be derived from entertaining the notion that there is some overarching plan; that there is at least a reason for what, on the surface, seems like blood lust for its own sake.

Because then there is a chance of a resolution by way of negotiation.

But I think we're just kidding ourselves.
