You know those controversial things we talk about...?

Well, so does Bernie Sanders. I realize some people here are tired of hearing about presidential candidates and debates, and I realize some do not believe in a good politician or that the system is rigged to where only bush or Clinton can win but.. I still think he's the guy for us here on Ats and America.. . He describes himself as a democratic socialist - which isn't gaining him popularity but he doesn't seem to lie to win votes.. and he doesn't just seem to have promises, he seems to actually want the change he's describing, and his track record is the best of any candidate.

Here's some things we talk about here that he mentions.

1. Aca is not okay, single payer system is the way to go.
2. Trickle down economics does not work, the rich are too rich.
3. The billionaires that needed bailing out need to be held accountable.
4. There is too much money in politics - he refuses to accept pacs, and wants to reform this area of politics in order to get money out of it. He unapologetically even points out that other politicians are bought - including Hilary.
5. The war in the middle east was and is a terrible idea.
6. Global warming/human pollution is a threat we need to focus on - look more into this if you don't know why. Less water/resources = unrest like we see in the ME
7. In the second debate, he mentioned big pharma and their greed and ability to mark up prices insane amounts, he's also against that.

And more I don't recall right this moment..

So he wants to take on big banks, big pharma, crony billionaires, and corrupt politicians... Won't be surprised if he is found to have committed suicide via 5 shots to the head soon, but I surely hope not.


There's been front page topics about every single one of those points. Specifically front page topics taking the position Sanders also takes.

I like the idea of capitalism, and wish we had a true capitalistic system. In some areas I'm a bit conservative as well, but the above reasons are why I'm voting for this guy. If we want the system to change, we have to start somewhere - voting for this guy in the first place sends a message we want his type of changes, and him getting in office for a term or two would likely start to unravel the mess that has just built upon itself over the years.

Personally, I think the most important thing to do is to support an anti-war candidate.

I was just reading an article from the World Socialist Website Bernie Sanders lines up with Middle East war drive

They seem to feel despite his socialist rhetoric he is pretty much falling in line with the push for "war on terror".

From the last paragraph of the article :

Sanders concluded the discussion of the Middle East with the suggestion that the United States greatly increase its military spending on the fight against ISIS and Al Qaeda. He said: “Let me pick up an issue that—a very important issue that we have not yet discussed. This nation is the most powerful military in the world. We’re spending over $600 billion a year on the military. And yet significantly less than 10 percent of that money is used to be fighting international terrorism.” He continued, “I think we need major reform in the military making it more cost effective but also focusing on the real crisis that faces us. The Cold War is over and our focus has got to be on intelligence, increased manpower, fighting international terrorism.” This is an argument for spending billions more on the NSA, the CIA, the Special Operations death squads of the Pentagon and drone warfare around the world. In other words, this so-called “socialist” is nothing more than an imperialist in sheep’s clothing, advocating the build-up of precisely those instruments of the military-intelligence apparatus that are the most dangerous to the democratic rights of the American people, and have the bloodiest record of atrocities against the population of the world.

Which he is from what I've seen. He talked about going after isis as a world, but voted against occupying the middle east so many years ago, and doesn't come off as aggressive.

Sanders is a career politician. He has some sweet spiel for people but he has been as much a part of the problem as the rest of them and I don't see him doing anything any differently.

Well, not exactly true, I would argue. For instance, voting against ME in 2003 and not accepting super pac funds.. Those two alone make him different than many of our other candidates.

I rmember circa 2007 I was pro Barack Obama but thought in truth he had no chance to win because he was black. Well he did win but then sold out completely, lesson learned from me.

Pro Israel Bernie could win, but he'd sell out completely right after.

that's good vote . . . vote against 2003 war I mean . . . Hillary on other had voted YES. Obama pretended to be against the wars tho but has kept them going and expanded into Libya, Syria . . . would Sanders risk being JFK'd?

This is an area where I find Senator Sanders positions flawed and a mystery.

But as a realist, I can accept that flaw, in my opinion, in a candidate and an executive. He has worked tirelessly on behalf of veterans but, again my opinion, veterans are best served by not subjecting them to wars of agression - so that is where I find Bernie's hawkesness a puzzle.

Still, I truly believe that he is the only candidate, excluding those from minor parties, that is doing this for our benefit and not to benefit self and wealth. Go Bernie, honest, hardworking, intelligent, practical, flawed Bernie.

Like ats? No.. Of course not, this is a forum and website...

Buy to reflect opinions intellectually debated and brought forth on Ats, an alternative news and conspiracy website, is far different than what most candidates are doing. He wants the type of change the average person here seems to want, and what I honestly believe Americans educated on these topics want.

( I.e. It's proven trickle down economics is not working, but some Americans have not been convinced of this fact- meaning it's not just an opinion- yet.)

Well, not to be a downer, but that's probably why he won't win. He doesn't have the backing of the Council on Foreign Relations. And he can't get the nomination because Hillary has bought off all the Super Delegates.

Although I liked how Bernie pinned Hillary against he wall for taking super pac money.

I have to look further into his voting record.

Unfortunately I think he will get the Ron Paul treatment from his own party. Its a Hillary win even the Republicans see it because its in the cards.

Sanders has a point.

Clearly our human intelligence isn't all that great.

It took 10+ years to find a 6-foot-plus Saudi man, and our drones keep blowing up innocent civilians.

Sounds to me like we need better intelligence. Bombs, tanks, planes and guns are blunt instruments if not used with proper intelligence to guide them.
