it was a disappointing discovery

freedom means to have no shackles
every morning
don't forget to chain up your rabid dogs
or give away your poisons
it's normal to hate your neighbor now
it's normal to force your child to be addicted to your violence

he threw all these false totems away

if you need this to survive I'd rather die

the new being will feed on my soft tissues and make a musical instrument from the hollowed out bones

Wow. I really like this. I keep reading it. So many metaphors and I'm trying to figure out what you mean and I know when we write we have our own meaning in our head and others will interpret it differently. Anyway, thanks for sharing this. Awesome job at writing

If I cannot make sense of it I thought possibly metaphor would transmute the details, therefore give more understandable meaning.
