I live in nyc. We have all seen the abuse of power by police departments all across this nation. All across this nation there are rallys and protests.
Nypd pays out so much in lawsuits costing nyc millions of tax payer dollars each year. They have a number of citizens complaints all across the city.
Even senior citizens are nervous around Nypd. They take property under an old civil forfiture law just for being arrested not even a conviction then
sell the property to pay for partys and other things. Go on youtube and theres plenty of videos where citizens know there rights but police tell them
deal with it in court continue to violate basic rights. People have been protesting since forever thats not gonna change anything. Would it be
possible as a citizen to sue the police dept because they are costing the city to much money with their lawsuit payouts? Im sure many citizens around
the city feel this way. Is a class action lawsuit even possible ?

Many of us agree that too many LEO's are abusing their power and want to see REAL accountability. I'm not sure lawsuits are the solution to the
problem as long as the taxpayer foots the bill win or lose. I think possibly civil suits against the LEO himself, with HIS / HER assets at stake would
be the most effective way to send a really strong message. The way things stand it seems the worst that ever happens is the LEO might lose his job,
and that's rare. I also think we need to demand criminal charges are imposed on police vigorously that break the law, in the same way that killing or
endangering a police officer holds a stricter punishment....a police officer who breaks the law should hold a stricter punishment.
The slap on the wrist is whats the problem. The big heads at the top are the ones who control the situation. The soldiers follow orders and are only
going to do what they know they will get away with. As a humble citizen I do not agree with them taking someones property and selling it to fund an
office party. No conviction is need only an arrest. I think thats the action of a criminal gang rather than a city agency. I say court because the
only real way to win is to play in the lines.
