Back in 2012,
Chefville by Zynga made it's debut on Facebook. After it's first month of running
on Facebook, it had become the number one game played, with over 4 million players.
I had really gotten into playing the game itself. Unlike many other casual "cooking" games, Chefville had a lot more meat to it. You had to build
all your resources and even your equipment.
Want that spaghetti dinner cooked? Well, you had to grow your tomatoes (or get them from the market), get the eggs and flour to make the pasta...and
that meant you had to have a pasta machine to make the pasta, and a mixer to make the tomato sauce...all before you could even put the ingredients
together to make your dish to be served to your customers!
So the game was rather fun for me, especially since not only am I the cook in our house, but in my past, I've worked at restaurants (no....not fast
food places....actual 4 star places) too.
I had not played in quite a long time (since this past winter) because of my time being eaten up. So not too long ago, I finally went to play, only to
discovered that Zynga closed Chefville's doors (along with 10 other of their pretty popular games) back in April!
I was quite sad about this. Cafeland is a very poor substitute for Chefville. Hell....if Zynga had boxed the game and sold it, I would have paid good
money for a stand alone version of it!
My only gripe I had about Chefville was the amount of quests that they would pile on you, and then they made them time sensitive. I failed at a lot of
those (forgetting that certain dishes would finish cooking and then end up spoiled!). But still had a lot of fun with the game.
I miss my Chefville!
