Russian submarines and spy ships being strategically placed near vital under sea Internet cables. The obvious question is why?

Not to go off topic, but I believe very few people who claim doomsday 'prophecies'. But this guy is old school, and real. Everything he said is collaborating with what is happening today. He has passed. He talked about an internal revolt against the U. S. government, shortly after the government would be too busy trying to handle the citizens, then we would be bombed by Russia and China. Watch for yourself before you criticize

They are planning to cut the net as has been pointed out, they regard the internet as the prime tool of US and NATO security services and also as there achiles heel, remember Moscow had all it's computers taken out after the Snowdon Revelation's and re-established typing pool's using old typewriters.

During the second world war Allied bombers had difficulty when flying over one German city below 5000 feet so they had to fly above this, at the same time the German residents of the city could only use Diesel engines as any petrol engines would fail probably because of an electrical disruption field like an EMP the nazis were developing to try to stop the bombers as a ground based alternative to there diminishing figher force's.

Could the Soviets have then after the war recreated or reverse engineered such a device and could the modern Russians possess a high technology version of it that could be deployed by satellite or even near to the coast of a country such as the US that could then shut down the electrical systems every bit as effectively as an EMP but with the advantage that cold restarts would not be effective for modern electronic weapons system's since the field would be a standing and maintained field rather than a discharge field that merely passes over the affected system's.

An EMP is simply a very strong magnetic pulse or wave that passess over and through electronic systems and through the process known as Electromagnetic induction this extremely powerful magnetic wave creates a high voltage inside the circuits thus breaking the low voltage tollerant semi conductor's by pulling this over current of high voltage electricity through them such as integrated circuites and even discrete semi conductors such as transistors as well as semi conductor diode's (possibly old style zenar would survive but it all depends on how much charge is pulled through them and for how long).

Now if then a push pull artificial EMP of similar magnitude to an atomic EMP could be created using a device to pulse such shock waves then it may actually be used to shut down a nation's power grid and cripple there electronic devices.

It is also possible the Russians are trying to tap the NET cables to give themselves similar intel assets to the US and NATO and are trying to figure out how to best go about it.

They can tap the cables, and/or rig them to blow later. It's not exactly a mystery. And they don't have to be doing either. They might be there just to show that they CAN do it if they felt the urge. As an added bonus then the West has to divert a bunch of resources to go see what's what in the areas the Russians (almost typed "Soviets"!) just left.

I hope you do realize that no one but yourselves calls you "the greatest country in the world". However I do feel that in context with this topic and your reply, US should rightfully be known as "the most paranoid and insecure country in the world".

That could be rather concerning, should they decide to effect the lines in a negative nature.

Tapping into the fiber-optic cables, at that point, is rather hard, if not impossible to do with out completely interrupting the line itself, for a period of time to install a splitter.

Will be interesting to see what happens, when it happens.

The gamers would be the first to notice.. Disconnected notices flipping up on all the screens as they all cry out in anguish, and rage..

I reckon they are there to protect the vital under sea Internet cables to stop the US from cutting the calbes and blaming Russia for doing it. Moreover, the US only has to shut off a few key routers and blame Russia for it.

Is there any evidence of Russia having any ill intent towards the undersea internet cables? Perhaps as per usual, its a case of the evidence is the allegation is itself ? i.e. I alledge this .... so therefore it must be true.

Dare I say it, but Russia is preparing some payback for all the things the USA has done wrong to the rest of the world.

As they say, karma's a not very nice lady sometimes.

This could all de escalate and go away if the USA simply worked with Russia in Syria instead of treating it like an unwanted homeless bum.

PS, I dont think Putin will actually go through with it, but he's showing the USA that if NATO keeps messing with him, he's got a few surprises he can pull.

Hmmm. The greatest communication platform the masses have ever known. I suggest Russia and NATO are not enemies, but are actually colluding and that the common man is the enemy. I think it may nearly be time to thin the herd. I think when the SHTF our governments will use each other as scapegoats for the culling. I believe this is the New World Order and that the idea of each country governing itself is a lie. They're working together. Against us.

Exactly. During the Cold War the US would sneak specialty equipped subs into Soviet harbors where they would tap phone cables that ran from the Kremlin to various bases. They'd pull the one they left a few months or a year prior and place a new recorder.

If they need to Russia may blow up the internets!

Or they may just be spying as usual which is far more likely!

Could also be clever disinformation, they themselves may have reason to cut internet lines and instigate censorship of free speech, after all most democratic government in the west is every bit as corrupt as it claims the russkies government is, they do not represent there people, there nations or even truly there countrys but they DO represent the vested interests of big business, take the Torys and PRE CORBYNE new labour as prime examples in the UK of this use and abuse of power and of national assets as private war machines to drive corporate interests.

Hell all you ever hear in the UK is CITY OF LONDON and TAX BREAKS FOR CORPORATIONS THIS AND BANK THAT.

In fact most of us here in the UK, probably 90 percent plus have no direct link to the city of london and are so far outside of it's cash flow that we gain nothing from it or it's international service sector yet because so much money passes through it (not through bitish national circulation or domestic use, or even other sectors import and export) they effectively own the government whom are representing only the financial advisors and portfolio managers.

In a world were Fraud, Misrepresentation and Dishonesty were prosecuted several of our prime minsiters (Thatcher though now deceased, (not major as though a tory he was decent enough) Blair, Brown and Cameron would now be in prison and indeed they should be for swindling our state assets in order to profit private interests, in fact they are all guilty of fraudulant misrepresentation and abuse of public office.

So given that the truth is become more widely understood and believed by the public could this be some vested interest wanting to be able to blaim the Russkies for any future tampering with these internet connection that they themselves may actually intend to enact in order to create a further artificial state of emergency.

Operation Ivy Bells was a joint United States Navy, CIA, and National Security Agency (NSA) mission whose objective was to place wire taps on Soviet underwater communication lines during the Cold War.

Despite these obstacles, the potential for an intelligence coup was considered too great to ignore, and in October 1971 the United States sent the purpose-modified submarine USS Halibut (SSGN-587) deep into the Sea of Okhotsk. Divers working from the Halibut found the cable in 400 ft (120 m) of water and installed a 20 ft (6.1 m) long device, which wrapped around the cable without piercing its casing and recorded all communications made over it. The large recording device was designed to detach if the cable was raised for repair.

The tapping of the Soviet naval cable was so secret that most sailors involved did not have the security clearance needed to know about it. A cover story was thus created to disguise the actual mission: It was claimed that the spy submarines were sent to the Soviet naval range in the Sea of Okhotsk to recover the Soviet SS-N-12 Sandbox supersonic anti-ship missile (AShM) debris so that countermeasures could be developed.

There has to be more to undersea comms than just ELF. Russians are probably doing a survey to see where the phone jacks are. Also those cables may have tie-ins to other strategic assets. Why send ships or subs to chase or look for subs all the time, when you have these convenient cables that you could plug a remote listening station into? (You don't make a sonar signal so loud that whales will beach themselves, unless you have some intent and perhaps the means to listen for reflections a good distance away.) Basically the Russians know we're onto their game to some extent, and they're curious how that works. The fact that we're saying something about what they're doing around the cables so soon is probably a big clue there's some interesting stuff down there.
