I'm on my laptop. It is not connected to external speakers.
I start hearing a woman's voice in an Asian language I could not identify. It didn't sound like Chinese of Japanese.
Maybe Vietnamese or Korean.
The signal faded in and out. It lasted for about half a minute.
It wasn't casual chat. The best I can describe is it sounded like an information dispatcher.
What could cause such a thing?

Maybe CERN caused a localized temporal rift in your general vicinity and your are picking up Tokyo Rose.

If someone near you is using a ham or CB radio you could be picking up interference. One of our former neighbors had a big CB set up and our desktop speakers would very often pick up his transmissions.

A dry joint on a part of the audio amp could easily cause that. When designing electronics one has to specifically include circuits to prevent rf interference.

I thought it might be ordering a transmission for an Audi or something from the title.

Yeah, an rf signal is most likely... dimensional rift is second.

As for the first possibility, any Asian neighbors you suspect of spying for NK or China?

If so, ya might wanna suck up to our new overlords... better than lighting torches and sharpening pitchforks, anyway... not that I'd think you inclined.

But seriously, I thought my general vicinity was weird... if it's the 2nd possibility, then you win any contests for unusual that might exist.

Eta: and I'll go with voidhawk's "dry joint" opinion... those things get me to hear Asian all the time... sometimes I see Aramaic writing on cottage cheese ceilings, too.

I had that once, it kept happening every now and then for a very short time, 30 secs ish. It freaked the hell out of me because i couldnt track it down. It turned out to be some malware type infection.

Try blitzing the comp with the bleeping computer top 5 free progs.
