Iconic science show “Cosmos: A Space time Odyssey” isn’t dead at Fox, according to the show’s host and executive producer Neil deGrasse Tyson.

“We should know soon, within a month possibly,” Tyson told Business Insider while promoting the upcoming second season of his National Geographic Channel series, “StarTalk” (which is adapted from the podcast of the same name).

“We’re converging now,” the astrophysicist continued. “Nothing’s greenlit, but we’re getting the band back together and we’re meeting with some of the heads of the Fox network by the end of the month. So, we should know something.”

Second season meetings have been mentioned before. For example, MacFarlane previously said discussions were going down in December 2014 in the tweet below.

Early, preliminary discussions for a 2nd season of #Cosmos— If you want to see more of the great @neiltyson, tweet him your love!

Great news to know they are working on getting second season of iconic science promotion series. I hope this gets green light and we get more of good science... (I can just imagine rejection wall this might create)

I am still stunned by fact that Fox (together with NG) is behind first show... all hats to Tyson, Druyan and MacFarlane.

You didn't think the show was a bit biased?

I had hopes for it, but quit watching it. I felt like I was being "force fed"

But know that I think about it, I can't remember any specifics to why I felt that way.

God I love getting old. CRS!!!!

I am so doom porn overloaded I thought the title meant the actual Cosmos, not the television show.

Herp derp.

A bird whispered in my ear, a season two will appear.

Tell it like a transcending story, kill the aesthetics, make in to a art form in philosophy, and it will be alright.

He politicized the differences between science and religion. For example, Giordano Bruno was portrayed as a science martyr, whereas is heliocentric theory was based on pagan philosophy, not science. The rift between science and religion is not so great as is sometimes made out.

I enjoyed the couple episodes I have watched so far, but I felt it was condescending toward religion. Didn't stop me from watching, but it's there.

I think that's a necessary evil in Neil's world. After all, we have lawmakers trying to add creationism to text books as an alternative to evolution, and we have several people running for President of the United States of America that believe that their god created the universe 6000 years ago.

He also said that Bengals kicker Mike Nugent only made that AWESOME game winning field goal against the Seahawks because of the Earth's rotation...

Nugent made it because he's clutch.

Who Dey!

What a letdown, right? I was kinda hoping we would have it on good word that the whole entirety of existence was coming to an end soon...

Hah. I was actually thinking more along the lines of maybe we finally know if it is heat death, big crunch, etcetera.

But too funny either way.

Right,

thus it was not very nice of him to show religion stance toward science and anyone who did not think like them...

Let's face it, you can't seriously talk about history of science without touching this kind of subjects, from religion inability to cope with scientific findings to the ways it tries to preserve belief over new discoveries even by means of killing.

Both shows (made by Sagan and Tyson) do great in propagating science as well to show how religion is not different than other mythologies, based on no evidence.

Please note, both shows also focus on humanity, not on any country and/or particulate religion. We need more shows like this.
