Has anyone seen a prominant link to ATS in the news lately?

While the symptoms of what has happened are very much like a dDOS attack, it could also me overwhelming normal traffic.

No sight of it, I was going to nominate it for a Yahoo! pick, but I couldnt figure out how. Maybe it was mentioned in some paranormal show or something.

If it is an enormus ammount of traffic than that is a good thing. This message board is growing so fast. I hope it grows a lot more.

hhhmm, to leave a truly paranoid post, this seems like an attack. Now, who would want to launch a sustained attack against us?

William, a proposal...

Tell us where this attack is coming from. Any local ATS member armed with a louisville slugger goes to pay this jackass a visit and puts and end to this bull#.

It's hard to tell.

If this is an attack, it's a reasonably talented zombie coordinated attack. Most of the attacking IPs are simply poor schmucks who's computers have DOS trojans.

William.

Is there any regional correlation of new IP's?

Or are they distributed worldwide?

Tell me this, was the attack based in Hong Kong via a proxy server? If so, I know your culprit.

No one region stands out.

The only common factor in all of the IPs that exhibit DOS behavior is that they are either home-use broaodband (cable modem or DSL), or small-medium sized ISP dial-ups. Additionally, the outbound port on their machine, hitting our port 80 are typical IRC ranges above 6670. This is evidence of an IRC Zombie attack. Here is one tale of woe of someone who was hit hard with this type of attack:
